15*8  You will be able to run lower tire pressures without popping a bead as compared to the 15*10's.  I have 15*10's but I plan on running the 13.5" wide Iroks.

Ya know ... I have heard MANY sides to both, all I can do is give "MY" own experience. I have 15x10 steel wheels with 36x12.50" TSL Bias Swamper's.  The tires are probably near the 80% new range and I have a "welded" rear diff.  I have many times ran all four tires down to 4lbs WITHOUT ever breaking a bead.  In addition to that have ran them on the street with that kind of pressure, "the welded diff pushes hard on the front tires when turning" and still have never had a problem. A good Wheeling buddy tossed out his 10" wide wheels to go to some 8" ones, hoping to gain what everybody else hopes to gain: and that is that the tire stays on the rim when aired down.  Well, the very next time we went out for a trail run, he was at 10.5 lbs and guess what?  Yep.... hit a small hole on a hill climb with his foot to the floor, lot's of wheel speed  :driving:and off it came!  :yikes:Needless to say we were all shocked. :o

I think it all comes down to a couple different things.  The brand name and make of the wheel.  Also the finish they put on them I am sure plays a part.  When I purchased my 15x10 (black steel) new and had them mount up my first original set of tires (36x12.50 TSL Radials) they must of stuck like glue because a year later when I had my bias plies put on the guy at the tire store asked what the he__ I did to make them stick.  I was not there but he said he had a heck of a time "breaking" them off the bead.  I then figured out why I never broke a bead with the radials.  I am guessing that my bias plies are sticking as good for the same reason also.

stewy  was yer buddies rims chrome ?  if so thats a good reason why they may have blew..  chrome rims suck since the finish is so slipery..  factor in   a tire that had just been mounted on it and its a bad combo..  ya gotta pump the suckers up to max psi  and leave them that way for a long time so the bed sets.. it sucks :\  thats why i like black powder coat wheels  and seating beads with  either..   since it slams the bead against the bead on the rim..

Actually they weren't.  Just a regular black steel wheel.  I don't believe they were powder coated either, just regular paint like mine.  He and I both wondered if the mold of the wheel was off a very small amount in diameter.  When we looked at the other tires and wheels, it looked like the wheel had been spinning a small amount inside the tires.  I had never seen this happen, only heard about it.  Something with his wheels are not right, have you ever heard anybody else having this problem?

steel wheels pretty much blow..  they come bent out of the box.. have horrible run out..   really the quality controll on them sucks..  which is why i love aluminum rims..  so it does not suprise me that he is having those problems.. its deffanitly posible  he got a set that had a :pokinit:  mold..   could have also been  because  they were new tires ..  theres no real tellin

bias right?  use any bead sealer?  are they the new or the old IROKS (round or square sidewalls) ?  thanks
