High Pinion Third Member w/ 5.29 + ARB
« on: Mar 18, 2006, 03:23:52 PM »
Selling a complete high pinion third member with 5.29 gears and an ARB RD23 air locker built by Randy's Ring & Pinion.  You might ask why I'm selling the holy grail of Toyota differentials so here it is...My version of a 4.3 engine swap has made the front driveshaft clearance impossible so instead of putting another 4 inches of lift under the truck, I'm planning on reverting back to a V6 low pinion.  The high pinion has only been wheeled lightly a few times when I had a tired 22R and 32" tires.  The Yukon gears run smooth and quiet and have been pampered with fully synthetic oil.  I'm asking $1200 so I can buy another complete third from Marlin without the hassle of setting up the gears and ARB.  Otherwise, if nobody wants it at that price, then it'll probably be cheaper for me to tear the hi-pinion down for the ARB and set it up in a spare V6 third with new gears.

If you happen to be near the mid-Willamette Valley (Oregon), then you could come take it for a test drive if interested.  If not, I can ship via UPS from 97355 if you want to calculate the shipping cost.  Buyer would be responsible for the actual cost of shipping and I should get an awesome rate through my work.  This third member is currently installed in my daily driver, so logistically I would want to wait until I have my new low-pinion replacement in hand before pulling the high pinion out.

The attached picture was taken in February and it still looks the same.
If it never breaks, people can only speculate how much it was overbuilt.

I was on the East Coast for a couple of days but I'm back home now and have replied to all PMs and messages.  Thanks for all the interest.  Please note that some of you have full Inboxes which prevented me from responding to your PMs directly.

I do currently have a pending offer on the table.  I'll let you know if this should change.
