i have a toy and want to put a coil over set up in the front...i was wondering if anyone knew the weight of the stupid thing or better yet if anyone has done it and could point me in the right direction i don't want to run a panhard bar so i am trying to figure the best way to set up a 3-link or 4-link

also has anyone tried to run a 4" lift coil off the rear of a jeep with a floating coil set up? let me know cause i just might try it

so everyone likes the leaf spring set up huh?

A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

my truck weighed 3830 last time i weighed it.

full of tools, full tank of gas.  and 150# flatbed.
i added a roll cage and cut off some metal from the flatbed so it might be a little different now.

i weighed the front half and it came out to around 2300#'s
the back half weighed 1530 #'s

i split the middle after the cab.

this is on an 85 xtra cab, and 32" tires as well

hey thanks alot for the info do you know if you need to subtract the weight of the axle when you figure for coil overs?

Correct, front axle weight doesnt count nor do tires.

If you want to avoid a front panhard you will need to run full hydro or you will have some serious steering issues.  You still will have some axle thrust issues with full hydro but they can be minimized using a triangulated four link set up.

With coil overs spring rate has minimal effect on ride height as it naturally can be adjusted.  Any of the major coil-over manufactures should be able to make recommendations based on the vehicle and what your desires are for ride type (how soft). Mounting angle and linkage leverage also have huge effects on the rate.
Hope this helps or at least kinda answers your question.
