Got the heave-ho a while ago to a local guy who had more money to build it up, I didn't have enough at the time and either it had to get finished or get sold, couldn't keep it around non-running.

Yeah, I will definatley take my time with this one and not half ass it. I have seen some people (not naming names, they know who they are) half ass their wheelers and they pay the price later with broken welds, components, and it just looks terrible. I will try my best to keep this a clean build with minimal body damage, but what happens, happens.

well I have to admit I'm jealous now.  I want a 3rd gen someday but I don't want to spend the money.  I will be excited to see how it turns out.  I agree don't half ass this thing, it will be a sweet ride if you do it right.

Yeah, I will only chop the body if it gets really jacked up in an accident or rollover. I think I want to do an exo cage to protect the body because my friend says his exo isnt there to protect in a roll, I mean it will, but it is to squeeze through trees without messing things up too badly, so I may go for it with minimal cutting to the body as I want it to be as clean as possible. SAS comes soon enough, I just need to save up a few more bills. I love the look of these 3rd gens SASed on 37"s with a clean body. That is my dream with this 4runner, maybe an exo too, but I will get there when I get there..

HAHAHAHA yeah, I guess! 4runner #1: Death by valve cover leak, puked 2 qts in 2 100 miles. Pickup: Death by lack of funds/lack of wanting to fight rust every step of the way. 4runner #2: Current rig/daily driver at the moment.

Not looking forward to driving the Ford everyday to school while SAS is under way. Hopefully I can drive the Subaru by then, it has been taken away for 2 weeks now.

Got this thing in the snow for the second time since I have been driving it and it kicked ass. All the other cars in this one neighborhood were having troubles and I would just go by them in 2wd even though the bfg mt's are not very good in the wet.

my advice to you is to not get focused on a toyota front axle in there because it won't be wide enough.  I'd say go with a diamond front axle and you can keep the left hand output

i say you sell the 4 runner and buy a 1st gen runner and build it to the sky. THEN with the left over money, buy a house and an audi :twocents:

Got grounded for 2 weeks because of a 5 over speeding ticket on the freeway, 65 in a 60. BS ticket if you ask me, but it's okay.

I think I have steered away from a Toyota axle for now. I found a D44 out of a 1984 waggy for pretty cheap hub to hub. The dual cases down the road with a left hand output and maybe a D60 later on.

The Subaru is still around, not allowed to drive it for now. Oh well, probably a good thing, it would have gotten me a ticket today. I was going around a corner and slipped out a little, got a Sheriff behind me for 2 miles (I set my odometor) and at 2 miles he turned around. Pretty sweet deal.

I sort of think it is wrong to put a Jeep axle under this Toyota, but whatever works and is the cheapest for now. The way I have it set up in my head is 1k for the SAS, 1k for tube, and 1k for add-on's like lockers and used tires. Not sure I want to dish out the cash for brand new tires. I am selling my old 33"s I was going to put on the 1980 this week for 250 so there's a bit more money. Hopefully this build goes well.

Lime green is the shiznit!
HAHAHAHA not sure what color the cage will end up being. I think Kurtis's will end up being bright orange and Justin used lime green on his SAS stuff. Not sure though. Maybe silver to accent the fender flares. Ill check webuilt's stuff, but isnt that on a truck, not a 4runner? I was just trying to figure out what to do with that rear window...
