Failed WA. emissions...need input
« on: Mar 04, 2006, 12:13:34 AM »
1982 Toy with a '94 22RE...missed the Hydrocarbons...read 288 at idle...allowable is 200.

I drove the truck about two miles at 35-45 to the test station and waited less than ten minutes to be tested...temp guage was in the 180-200 the whole time.  Truck hasn't been run much over the last couple of months so I filled the tank, added three bottles of heet and plan to put some miles on it before I re-test...any other suggestions?

Thanks,

J

drive it around for a half hour or so before you get it tested..  to get it burning nice and hot  and to also burn off whatever is leftover  from the last time driven..

it also helps to do quick tune up.change the plugs ,cap, rotor and wires. My sons toy wouldn't pass either, came home did a tuneup and it passed the second time with flying colors.
