So where are you going?

Dunno.  Germ is deciding on that.  We're gonna meet up at the 108/Hess underpass, and go from there.  We'll be there at 9am, and wait for about 20 minutes for anyone else to join up.

anyone can give me a call at (707) 365-9007 (if I get signal) to let me know you're coming, and we'll hang around for ya

We went straight up phoenix lake road, and hit some forest service trails off of there.  GERM  is the guy to ask  for sure.

The exo'd rig is RUGER's, he and a buddy did it together.

Had a blast, had to pull out the winch a coupla different times, encountered some prety slick mud that mad things a wee bit interesting

More pics.  Hoepfully GERM and RUGER will post up some of their pics as well, I posted up the best ones I had

none of the pictures I have do it justice, but my truck is sitting at about 45* on the edge of a purty steep drop off.  Not to mention the gooey mud that I'm sitting on.

I'll try to eplain the situation, and hopefully others will jump in with better pics (RUGER AND GERM!!!)

this is the trail

the uphill and downhill sides both had a deep rut going up the middle of them, and water and mud was flowing downhill (wasn't when we originally went down the downhill side

the incoming side was where we were backtrakcign when this happened.  I was leading, and charged up the hill three or four times before finally making  it up nto the up hill side of the drawing.  The plan was for me to then back around, on the incoming area (flat)and then back out to turn around.

Well, I started backing, then realize that dropping the driver's side tire into the deep rut would be a bad idea, sending me back down to where GERM and RUGER were waiting.  Trying to saw back and forth, I kept sliding down the hill sideways, until I backed onto the flat spot at an agle, where I wedged myself against a tree right in front of where I am sitting in this second pic.  I tried back out of it,  and slid over to the side, where if I went any farther over, my truck would probably have rolled.
SO we tried to get GERM up.  He charged as high as he could, then he threw out his winch and winched him to the flat spot.  He then backed up as far as he could the uphill side, where we anchoredhim to a tree, then tossed his winch to my sliders.  He pulled me out until I could back down the "incoming trail" and get on flat ground.

finally, RUGER charged the hill, and when he stopped, we threw a tow strap from me to him, and GERM's winch cable from GERM to him, and proceeded to pull him up.  once we got RUGER almost to the flat spot, He unhooked from RUGER, and I anked RUGER up until he was facing me.  Then germ unhooked from the tree, and drove down to the flat spot at the junction.  I backed out til I could turn around and then we continued out

Sorry it's taken me so long to chime in, but working is getting in the way of all the good stuff.

We had a great trip! We went up to Cedar Ridge area. Didn't even try to get up to the lookout, it was too muddy and covered in snow. We went off to the left just before the hill climb, and went down into the valley there. We followed it out to the end, where we stopped and had a good lunch. It was getting back up the hill that caused problems. BD managed to get sideways, and almost flopped it down the hill (as he discussed in the previous posts), we had a good time getting everyone out of that.

I wish I had some pictures to post, but my computer seems to be uncooperative. I'll have to work on it this weekend, and see if I can post some of the pics.
