OK peeps I'm finally gonna get Jeff's 85 (been tryin' to buy it for 5 years) the truck has 340+k miles on it (no BS) but the engine and tranny have less than 10k and the rear axle is out of a 93. It has 35's on it  I can't remember what gears he said was in it... :headscratch: like 5. somethings any way I got to sell my new Toshiba DLP projector to pay him for the truck and to do the buildup. :sad2: but it will be worth it.
It has a towing cam in it and a header but I was told I couldn't use the cam with fuel injection but I'm gonna try it anyway unless one of you guys have tried it and already found out that it won't work. And of coarse SAS :eyebrow: :psss: the O/L says I'm not gonna do it but I AM

Any suggestions or tips?

First make sure you have a place to stay when you get your self in trouble with the O/L.

Not sure about the cam, but if it has a rough idle it may not work to good with fuel injection.

I almost think you would be better off with a cam that gives you better low end torque than one that is all top end.

I thought the 4runner was the one that kept the SA in 85. I thought 84 was the last year for the trucks?  :dunno:

85 was the last year of the SA and first year of fuel inj  in trucks.  BUT there were some late 85's that came with IFS ASWELL as some early 86's that had a SA

Well when he wore out the first engine the second one he bought was a carb engine. and this one is the 3rd engine it was simpler to leave it like he had it when he bought it from toyota about 8 yrs ago and put about 150k on it and it spun a bearing so he had it rebuilt.
