Which Birfs are you running, Mini or 'Cruiser? If mini, I believe Marfields no longer exist, Newfields aren't supposed to be worth the money, still have heard no reviews of the Smurfield, and are you talking about Longfields (superbirfs)? Longfields are great. If you are looking to get them, go to his sight because he is now selling them and they are a lot less than from his vendors. He is also taking cores again so you can get them even cheaper. If you are running 'Cruiser birfs, you might be able to get Bobby Long to treat a stock set but as far as I know, no one makes aftermarket birfs for the 'Cruisers.

i actually talked to bobby long (who makes the longfields) yesterday and if you have a '76 or newer landcruiser then he makes a birfield that will fit, i have a complete front axle assembly from a '79 fj40 so i'm going take the knuckles etc. off the '79 and  convert my '74 so i can use the superfields, plus i'll have disc brakes on the front.

what kind of experiences have y'all had with the longfields?

Smurfs are $57 US plus about $20 for shipping with your cores. They have been tested on pirate and people are breaking inners before the smurfs. I have them in my truck and have run martinez canyon, ajax, lower terminator, judgement day, FR42 (easy), upper and lower woodpecker and lotrs of other easy trails. (All AZ trails)

There is also the BellField made by Danial Bell. These have been in production for a year now and have been trail tested in several trucks. So far most of the failures have been on the inner axle. In the very near future we plan to carry these new joints right here at Marlin Crawler!
