Harbor Frieght Winch?

Hey have you herd of anyone buying a harbor frieght Winch before I just found a 8000 lbs winch for 300 bucks I thought that was a great deal but I don't know what kinda Quality it is take a look.

Don't know about the 8000# winch, but the 9000 is a Mile Marker.

these winches are all the mile marker ones, they are reman mile marker ones, or so i have been told

I was reading a thing somewhere, don't remember where, but it said that those are milemarkers. That was allready said, but the report said that the winches are pretty good. I have seen a cheapo 200 dollar winch outlast a brand new Ramsey winch by a lot, so it might be worth a try.

if they are milemarker, then thats awesome milemarker is a good company with a reputation, if they are made in china orange branded harbor freight specials, i dont know that i would trust it, not saying htere is anything wrong with harbor freight or their tools, but usually they are "cheap" for a reason....

Those winches are milemarker winches.  you have to dig deep, but they are the same winch, just different looks

I'll give it a try 300 bucks isn't too bad for a 8000 lbs winch everywhere else I look they want anywhere from $800 to a $1200.

i was just looking through the 4wp ora magazine and they had milemarker winched for like the 8k one and it was just $360

the 8k at HF right now is only 299 or somethin like that, they ARE actually remanufactured mile marker winches, i stopped by a HF store and checked out the 8, 9, and 10K winches yesterday, for the price i'd just go with thier 10K don't need it, but its still cheaper than any brand name winch.

I have one and it has never let me down. But is is SLOW. But for the price I'd do it again.

a friend of mine was just in Tellico and his Warn got put to work x3 b/c the other guy had a milemarker that was pouring smoke.  I debated on the HF winch myself but I would look for a used Warn or Ramsey Patriot etc...

remanufactured winches are maybe ok for those who don't see lots of action or are using them as a rear utility winch...i personally would buy a used warn or ramsey instead.
buy one and give us a write up on it..

hey they work just fine we bought one for the runner and it dose it's job with know prob and you can also get a 2 year warinty  on them so if anything dose go wrong they will replase it no cost to you

the hf warranty is great in this respect, but when you are stuck miles from civilization with a crapped out winch, they arent going to deliver you a new one on the spot......

most likely won't go with the hf winch would rather, like a lot of ppl here, pick up a used warn, since my front bumper is designed for a warn winch anyway, lol

Ok, just to clear some things up, someone said they are all milemarker remans, and to avoid the orange tagged HF brand Chinese ones.

We just went to HF today and they had the 8, 9, and 10k winches, Chicago brand like in the link in the first post, all of them, orange tagged, and silver with red/orange borders/letters say made in China at the bottom, so unless milemarker is having their winches reman'ed in China for Chicago Electric........

look at a mile marker winch its made in china too, lol.  and yes they are rebadged as chicgo electric, but they are truly remanufactured/refurbished/whatevatheheckyawannacallem milemarker winches

You know, I have had nothing but good luck with HF stuff...the winches certainly are the same exact ones Milemarker is importing.  I think I will prob grab one for the front of my rig...what the hell, biggest probs I've heard is that they are on the slow side.  Well, I'm in nooo hurry.  As for reliability, most HF stuff seems to hold up well with a little bit of care and maintenance...just something you gotta do if you choose to go the inexp. route.

I have 2 and have been very happy with them. true painfully slow sometimes but I hav pulled out lots of guys who were saving up for a better winch. We are now using the winches more and more so Warns are in the near future but the HFs will go in the bed of the support truck. I would buy them again if money were still tight and I neede winches for the family rigs.
