toyota pulling power

so i wonder how much a toyota pickup can pull? i mean can the springs, rearend, brakes handle the weight of say another toyota wheeler on a flat bed? ive been looking at an 89 toy with a 5.0 and a c5 with 35's. i question if it could be set up to pull my 83? if for say the rearend was the issue, what about a tundra rear end and springs? i would plan on putting a trailer brake controller on the truck and tow rated tires of course. so let me in on your thoughts?

I saw an 2nd gen toy pulling a daul axle trailer the otherday full of lawn equipment, it was going 55 on the freeway, but it seemed like it was doing ok.  I think it'll pull it, but obviously not the ideal tow rig

I've flat-towed my Willys with my 80 Toy and my 2003 Ranger. The Ranger was just scary and the Toy does it with ease. I also used to tow 2 Seadoo's and had a cabover camper on my 84 truck.

Oh, and I also used to tow an 18' travel trailer with my 4Runner.

I have an 04 Tundra V8 and it has a factory class IV receiver.  I wouldn't purchase it to be a tow/work truck, but I'm positive it can handle towing another toy with ease.  Expect gas mileage to be under 12 mph.

i deally this would not be the towing setup. bye right now the diesal world is changing and i want to wait to pickup a diesal. i could easily afford this and im wondering if it could do the job every now and then.

anyone know what the differences in the springs from a fen 3 pickup to a tundra?

I see no reason why you couldn't pull another small truck with it since it has a v8, but I'd look into some add no rear springs, maybe something removable if you don't want permanent.  Especially since you're only gonna do it occassionally.  I'd also look into beefing the brakes as much as possible.  I've pulled another toyota with my 81 2wd toy when it ran on 3 cylinders and it still towed fine, and the brakes worked fairly well.

hell a buddy used to tow his baha bug behind his wheeler that toy was bearly streat leagal and he was able to pull away and pass some of the other people in the group but he is also crazy and has almost 2 grand into the 22re

That truck should pull it just fine, might be a little squirly but it will do it.  I would also look into some brakes, for truck and trailer.

I have a '91 toy 4x with a 3.0 v6 and have pulled a 22ft pontoon through the ozark mountains and never had a problem just give yourself some extra room for braking also I have pulled a trailer with both truck and trailer overloaded with tree trunks and limbs and it was all good had to take it easy though, rear fenders getting a little close to tires
