Lets do another Highlakes run!
« on: Feb 03, 2006, 03:58:12 AM »
Hey Lilbuddy since you set up a pretty good Bald Mountain run why dont you host another Highlakes run. Is there snow up there? It would be fun to go up there and play around in the snow. Whatcha think? Even if there isnt any we can still cruise around and go to some of the other lakes that we didnt make it to last time. :yesnod:

Sounds good to me? want to do it in 2 weeks? I really want to have my EFI done before I go wheelin again. My bro will be out for like 2 weeks also. Im sure I could get a pretty big run since I am "Kind of in a local club". I know at lest 2 or 3 people from there, then about 2-3 and so we could get about 6-7 rigs at least.

What are the coordinates for highlakes? Or a map?

Ill get a google Earth screenshot for ya.

I do not think that we can make it to the lakes, but probably could get up to the T  (where we stopped and waited up then went down the road to the right, turned left and started makin our way to the first lake).

Heres a map I remember that I posted a while back... Im at school so I will get another map when I get home.

Fo Sho, how bout 3 weeks from now eh? I got to order a twin stick and get my dual cases done. It shouldnt take very long but I got to get my rear shock mounts set up. After that it will be the trail ready beast. Guess I better get my 12"ers sent to Marlin and get my 14"ers.

Im only locked in the rear so you will be fine. Just as long as you have at least 35s. Its no fun with smaller tires.

Does anyone have air? Only thing I have to use is my bros Super Flow...the pepboys special one.

went there last night from like 9pm to 5 am.. it blew monkey spunk with all those ruts. but the snow was ok.. probably a 4" crust that you could stay ontop of.  we just went up to carrmine ( me hans and another guy)  i was hardly able to get out of 2nd gear.. and only one time on the uphill to bottle hill  on the inskip side was i able to get it into 4th to pass my buddy doug..   hopefully it will dump a metric shiton of snow like just before we go.  or we should go at night so the snow freezes.

oh and the backside of carr mine was BEEAAAUUUUUTTTIIIIFFULLLLLL  at like 1 am  with no tracks on the hills and the moon hittin just right..  pure awesome

oh and one more thing.. best idea is a night run because  during the day  there is going be TONNNSSS of ice caves  and with the snow heating up  there is a good chance of  falling into those.. and unless we have a bunch of winches and recovery gear.. its gonna be a hellacious time to get out of them.  Right before the Y there is about a 100 yard section of a nice 49" tire hole  that was a giant ice cave. and getting by it is hairy as hell for a good stretch till you get to where the place to go around is.  just some food for thought

Is this run open to anyone? I'd love to try a new snow place.   :dunno:

I've got a reasonably built 4Runner, no winch, but I should be able to keep up.
