Im gonna try and make it Jim.

BTW, do you know that "they" plowed or graded garcia ridge.  I went up there and was dismayed at the trail. I think my Volvo could make it to the end of the trail. No joke. :rivers:

Yeah, I know.  :maddest:
I was there the week before they graded it and it was getting very interesting.  The bottom turn at the gate and the first loose rocks next to the tree were getting nasty.    Then I come back two weeks later and it's a freakin highway.  I could understand a water bar or some erosion control bu they ripped out the rock steps and everything.  I was stunned, after all it IS an official 4x4 trail.  I haven't been all the way to the end so I'm not sure how that "interesting" section is these days.  The "bypass" is open at the top, so you can lock your hubs. ;)

At least we still have the scary "stairsteps":

Absolutely !

:psss:  From the Surf N Turf Web page:
QuoteYOU'RE invited to join all makes and models of Land Cruisers and Toyota 4wd trucks

I'd really like to see a built 2wd Toyota Pre-Runner in the dunes so I guess I should have left out the 4wd part.

That's great the more locals the better!

You should check out our informal "localsonly" group.  We get together occasionally to talk cruisers  (and trucks).   We try to get onut for some local runs and even some out of town runs.   In fact, tonight a couple of us are meeting in SLO at Tacos de Acapulco (Laurel Lane) around 5:00 pm
Click for map

I've set up a web page and forum for us.  You're welcome to join.
Not much traffic, and it is just for SLO locals.  check it out here:
http://realcruiser.com/slo/
and the forum (you'll have to register to see the localonly forum):

cheers,

hey jim

i'll try to make it your meeting. for all of you that don't know where it is...it's accross the street form the fire station. laural liquir is in the same place...i used to stop there and grab tall cans since i worked off of agusta.

i'm waiting for someone to call me about our lab project...hopefully she'll call soon since your meeting sounds interesting.

edit: my rig don't do well in the sand...i get horrible axle rap. maybe i'll catch a ride with someone.

what's happening ben.

i'll see what i can do. i'm going to weld on a rear spring hanger and get rid of the buggy leaf. i'm also going to get some shocks(collin still owes me money). all this will help with the axle wrap...i might have the rear-end sinched up by the hollister run(do you think you'll show up, it'll plan my beer buying better.)

Due to the large turnout (50-100 rigs!!), we're moving the Surf N Turf camp from the back dunes to the beach near Pole 7.

We'll be out there staking out a large area on Friday afternoon.

More details on the web page at:
http://realcruiser.com/surfnturf/

Hope to see you there!
