I got sick of replacing these things every time they got a little splash of mud. So far the only replacement is about $40 at Toyota.

Since I had nothing to loose, I took an old noisey one apart. Just removed an internal snap ring and drove the bearing out with hammer and punch.

I found that I could take a pick tool and stick it under the lip that holds the seal in(the inside edge of the outer race) and pop it out. Did this on both sides,  blasted it clean with brake cleaner, and packed it with synthetic grease. Be sure to leave some air pockets for expansion and just pop the seals back in then re-install.

The sooner you catch them going dry the longer they last repacked.(as in many mud dunkings)

I have also done this on a rear axle bearing after a damaged axle seal washed the original grease out.
27-AT, some other adapter, flipped D300, twin sticks on cables.
