Youll want the deep cell for winching, pretty much any of them will handle starting and low draw light use. I do think optima batterys are crap tho, and wont ever spend the $ on another.

There are to many better options out there, you just have to shop around. I didn't get cought up on name brands when replacing my optima. I just got the best battery I could from a local parts place where I have friends on the inside. This way I can get replacements when the lead plates break from inpacts, and cause a cell to go dead.

I must have gone through 5 cheapos in 2 years, and the optima only lasted 1 1/2. I have been using my current gell filled batt for the last 3+ and have only replaced it once, 3 months after I got it.
Hug your kids, pray for a soldier, and don't sweat the small stuff.

Are you using the Exide Orbital? I've heard great things about those.

I have an Optima Red now, and I'm already kicking myself for it...

The reason a Gel Cell battery seems to not be as good as a Wet Cell battery is because for most of you that use them in your rigs you don't use them enough or they are being charged at an improper rate. So it's not the battery it is the lack of use that makes those that don't daily drive their vehicle think a Gel Cell is junk. Even though they are maintenance free they are not attention free in fact they require more attention than Wet Cells.

The main thing to remember on a Gel Cell is they need constant freshening. Let it go dead or even run down a little and leave it that way for a while is death for the Gel Cell.

Well I bought my red top Optima used for $50 about 2 years ago, it had been in a trail rig for about 3 years before that. Then I slapped it in my 4runner and since my yota is my DD I drive it pretty much every day (which seems to be the key to keeping optimas alive from what i gather). So far, I have:

left my head lights on for 5 days while on vacation, they were still on when I came back, not enough juice to fire it up but I bumped started it, charged it up and it was good to go

spent 7 hours of one day winching during a nasty extraction and it only killed my truck once

I put it in my boat only to find the boat has an electrical short or gremlin somewhere because it drained the optima twice while in the boat, had to get jumped twice.

and its still kicking. I have been really happy with my Optima. I have a few extra marine and deep cycle batteries laying around so when the Optima goes I will just use one of those but I have been extremely pleased with my red top.

Finished up my bumper! I am very happy about it....my front end was really taking a beating...I had broken out part of the core support, broken the radiator mounts off and moved the headlight buckets around via trees...

Heres some pics
Toyminater gave me this new grill

I made some brackets out of 1/4 inch metal (this is the template obviously)

How does that work exactly? the warranty

You take it to a walmart that doesn't have a repair shop so they have no way to test it.  Don't bring them the receipt so they will go by the punched out dates on the battery (done when you get it new).  I just replaced both of the batteries in my diesel this way.
