well, here's the deal, I've got a 96 t100 extended cab 4x4 with the 3.4 in it that i was planning on selling this upcoming summer and getting something diff, not exactly sure, but just something to daily drive that was "nice" cause I'm planning on getting a different quad this summer so there goes a good chunk of change.

Here's the problem though, I'm going to Oregon State so my funds basically come from working over the summer and somewhat throughout the year so many funds are limited. My first truck was an 83 yota that was basically stock when I sold it and by the standards on here in fairly good shape! I since miss that truck and want to get a toy but I don't know if I can afford it this summer. And since I won't have the money for the kind of truck I want, I'm at a crossroads.   :shake_head:

Should I keep my t100, still get a quad, and maybe a cheap older yota for a toy?
                                 -or-
Should I keep my t100, get my quad, and try to straight axle my t100 for my dd and weekend toy?
                                 -or-
Should i sell my t100, get my quad, and get a diff truck for now and wait till next summer perhaps and buy a old yota for a toy?  :hammer:

-If I do keep my t100 for SAS I would have around 2000-3000 at most probably to spend on doing it. Problem is I don't have the know how or tools to do it myself because I have yet to tackle a project this big before but a couple of my buddies do have most of the tools if not all and one has done his own pickup SAS, and If I could find some to help besides them.
-I guess this is the majority of my questions for now!
Any info/ opinions at all would be greatly appreciated and would anyone in OR be interested in helping if I did a SAS, terms for helping could be negotiated. THX  :)

if you sas  the t100  go with a FJ80 front axle

but i think you should forget the quad keep the T100 for a DD and get yourself a good solid axle chassis  and build a trail rig

and you want a quad  to run around in the brush  ,  you can do that with a properly built buggy

i have been considering building a good 4x4 buggy,  not a rock buggy but somethin with maybe a supra engine  with 38-40's maybe a auto tranny for  fast launches across the mud feild  :eyebrow:

if I do decide to SAS what parts do you think I should use for lift? axle? springs? etc.... trying to keep everything affordable but strong enough...also trying to stay mostly as cheap as possible :yesnod:

get yourself the Jig and front hanger from Marlin,  then make some front springs using some 2wd ranger or S10 leafs mixed withtoy rears

good for 3-4 inches lift  and i made mine for $30

What side is the diff on in the T100.  I'd guess driver, but I'm not sure.  That might have some say in what axle you could get.

I don't even know if I am going to SAS it. I think if would be really sweet but I just haven't made up my mind yet. It would be such a pain in the but plus lots of $$ but I like the roomy interior and I really like the 3.4L. But I'm thinking of just keeping it stock and just buying a an old one thats already got a straight axle. That would be a lot less hassle. But I've got some time to think about it though because I prob . wouldn't start on it until summer. I ran the idea by my dad but he keeps sayin it would be a waste of money and just drive it like it is and you don't want your toy to be your dd in case if it's broke down all the time and it won't ride the same blah blah blah!!! He used to wheel when he was young so I don't know what his problem is now?? :shudder:

Keep the T100 as a DD and get a SA toyota for play time.

Thanks for the opinions :beerchug:  Keep em coming. I think buying a trail rig would be a lot easier, but I really like the 3.4L and interior space of the t100. So, who knows, I'm leaning more towards a trail rig now though and leaving the t100 how it is...

Owning toys is a compromise.  I had a 2000 SS Camaro and my crawler, but when I got married I chose to only keep the crawler as my DD and got my wife a Tundra since she didn't want to drive the Camaro as a DD and I only wanted two autos.

If I were in your shoes, I would SELL the T100 (I have not heard a lot of good about them  :dunno: ) and get an economy car (Civic or Corolla) as a DD.  This will save you money on gas, insurance and maintenance.  Then get a older Toyota truck/4runner to build and keep in it DD form so you can either haul or tow your NEW quad!

or build a light trailer and use the t100 for the tow rig

I like your advice Black, but I hate most cars and I wuld not drive a small car, I really only like old muscle cars, theres just something about being a "pickup man"  , as far as thew t100 goes I have not heard anything bad about them, and my I've got the use of trailers if necessary so thats always nice  , its awful nice of you buyin the wife the new truck...thats true love :ladys-man:  thanks for the input :beerchug:
