85 dove tail question
« on: Jan 10, 2006, 11:20:34 PM »
i have bobbed my long bed 16inches, but now i want to dovetail it. they look sick and seam like they would work really well, how do i go about it? i want it to be really clean and look like it came that way. what would be the best way to do this? cut the center out and move the rear in then go back and weld the center of the bed back in or put some kind of sheet metal or chicken wire type bed down? also will i be able to cut my tail gate and mount it back up? any info would be great thanks

if you are talking about the bed, jsut cut a section out, my truck has a bobbed bed made by bigbluewilly's and it has a functional taligate and is bobbed

the seam is right in the middle of the marlin sticker

oh ok... now i get it.... i remember someone here doing this recently, let me see if i can find the pics.... as far as the tailgate, dont think you are going to be able to keep it functional..... because although you can shorten it widthwise, it will probably not work where the hinges try to mate
