I've seen some really fast K-Cars, but I still don't know what motivates people to build such a car :conf:

You need to speak to reklund5. Ryan's Supra is Wicked Fast!

My MR2 is RIP right now. The engine is still intact, but it needs a new bottom end. My best was a 14.05 @ 112mph on the original stock engine (13psi) and I never got to track the rebuilt engine (18psi) which was a much more reliable and consistant engine.

I didn't do a whole lot of straight line racing though. My favorite style BY FAR is Quiet Mountain Driving. Night time is maybe the best time. I have many a memories from Hwy 168, Aubury Road, Powerhouse, Mammoth pools Road 225, and Old Tollhouse road.
Wanna drive California? Check this site out: http://www.pashnit.com/motoroads.htm

Back in 1999, I bought a JDM 4A-GZE Engine, uped the boost to 13psi, then blew the headgasket two days after doing 144 mph (transmission limited) in the Diablo Hills outside of Kettleman City, redlined in 5th gear at 11psi. So that engine had a bit more, but I needed a 6th gear. So I rebuilt the engine with a SC14 Toyota supercharger unit (20% larger) that pushed 16 psi through a 4th gen Supra Intercooler. Then I learned about the wonderful world of water/alcohol injection, got rid of the Intercooler, and my peak boost went up to almost 18psi.

I was still using the stock Toyota ECU, and figured it was around 270 Hp. When I rebuild the engine next, I am going to run a complete stand alone aftermarket EFI sys and get it dyno-tuned to get the full potential outta the engine.

270 hp from 1.6 liters = 169 hp / liter. I got the car down to 2150 lbs which was pretty good for the heavier 87-89 style MR2 (mine was an 87) and daily driver.

Since the rest of my engine is still good, I am going to find a good used bottom end and transfer everything over and stab it into a pre-1975 car (Exempt from SMOG Laws) that handles well and weighs around 1700 lbs. That is my goal. If the better EFI system can push the engine to around 300 HP, then that could be an old-school sleeper with a 5.7:1 Power-to-Weight ratio :o  :eyebrow:  :wink2:  :burnout:

Here's a pic from FIREBALL's driveway:

Pic from Mammoth Pools Road in the Snow:

Pic of the rebuild with Supra IC (16psi):

And pic of the same engine with a rebuilt top-end using a homemade 3-stage Water/Alcohol-Injection system without an IC (17.5-18psi):

I've been accused of having a fast 3rd gen Supra.  I dunno if its "wicked fast" but right now it needs 2 new rear tires.  For some reason they just smoke in 2nd gear at 22 psi...

Wanna hear something funny Mike?  Redding got a craigslist recently, and I was scrollin through seein what the local freaks had in their scrap heaps uh, I mean front yards, for sale and there was a gs500 with an atc rear end that looked pretty good, and it was like $900 too.  Had street tires and wheels and all.

thats cool. I am now thinking about getting like a CBR600. An early model like a 95 or 96. I dont know. I'll only have about 2k to spend, so I'll have to pull some strings to get one I think. I havn't looked, but I bet they are all above 3k  Maybe I'll just keep the GS500E.................................

I had a 2000 SS Camaro for a couple of years.  I ran some low 13's with it, and it still pulled hard at 145+ mph...and best of all, it got 26+ mpg when being hammered on the highway.  The worst I ever managed was about 12 mph for a half tank of nothing but Zero to Go-Fast runs.  Now I have a Tundra instead.

Great Exchange  ;)

I would agree, but the Camaro was fun to drive.  I treated it fairly well and still ended up replacing the clutch at 35,000, rear end (everything but the limited slip) thanks to a carrier bearing failure & transmisson thanks to a factory weak link in 3rd gear.  My extended warranty was an excellent deal.  The motor always ran strong, seemingly too strong for the drivetrain.

I actually had an honest Ford friend, he owned three Mustangs) that asked me if I ever had Mustang's wanting to race.  He said that if they were smart, they wouldn't if they realized it was an SS.  The GTs were simply not comparable and the Cobras were close enough that the drivers could make the difference.  Then the 2003 Super Charged Cobra came out and the story changed.

Now my Tundra runs even with the V6 Mustangs and Camaros.  I had a go with a Mustang in Nebraska and ran even halfway through 2nd gear before I let off.

My dad and I took a road trip in it from WA to CO and he wanted to know how fast I had gone.  I finally told him that I had the speedo up to 150 mph and it ran good other than the hood got some vibration (from the intake I suspect) at about 145 mph.  He didn't believe me until he hit 140 on the speedo and it was still pulling and running solid.  The GPS said 144 so I went a bit faster than I had any idea.  He  crossed WY running between 90 and 110 for almost the entire state, what a wonderful trip!

If anyone knows the road between Ellensburg and Yakima in WA, the car pulled from 60 to 140 on the first long grade (steep) heading south with three adults and luggage, plus I still got 26 mpg on the tank.  It also pulled the tunnel approach out of Denver at 120+ with ease.

Oh the memories... ...I still like my crawler better  :yesnod:

Lead foot?  Who? ME?  Nooooooooo  :eyebrow:

Never done it, but a Supra LSD should drop right in from what I know...  I've been thinking of building a drag only car out of an old MkIII Supra (you can find 'em CHEAP! with a blown engine) and putting a spool or an ARB in it...
