kinda hard to see to change the channel  but i usually stay on the same channel,  and nobody can see it to steel it

make sure you run a quality antenna and get the swrs as low as possible

I'd tell him to just leave it off all the time.  It's ready only compatable with a cobra that has soundtracker.. Uniden's Dynamic Squaelsh(SP)  is the same idea, but the two systems don't work well together.  Don't ask me why exactly, but one has a narrower band filter then the other.  If you don't know and want to know what a band filter is I can post the info here or PM you.. It is not a long desciption.

Oh ya nice 11 meter..thingy

SWR stands for Standing Wave Ratio.  The higher the ratio, the lower performance you will get, and vice versa.  You should be able to get down to like1.2-1.5:1 with that radio and a good antenna.  As for antennas, think Wilson, K-40, etc.
hope that helps.

if two CBs have the soundtracker boost buttons, what exactly does it do? sorry to ask stupid questions, but my manual seems to have lost me

The Sound tracker boost buttons change the band width of the AM signal. Normally the AM signal on a CB is about 30KHz wide, the sound track compresses the out going signal, and narrows the wide of the received signal. In short if the signal width was a window and the signal was light, the sound tracker is like curtains, push the button and the curtains close a preset amount.  This is great if the rest of the radio can handle the compressed signal, but it can't so the radio is still trying to use a signal with a full width, so when you receive the signal the sound tracker curcit has to UNCOMPRESS the signal.  The problem is the Cobra, and Uniden use differrant compression algorithms to compress and uncompress the signal.   The sound tracker can handle an uncompressed signal with out disturtion, but a compressed signal from a Uniden doesn't look right to it. Hope that helps..
