« on: Dec 17, 2005, 10:32:31 PM »
our floor jack is dead basically, it will pump and immediately fall... so basically it will raise an inch and fall an inch..... it wont support any weight... my dad gave me an owners manual and its got a bag of orings and c/e clips... should i jsut start pulling it apart and replace everyhting i can? or is there a certain part that pretty much always fails?

I've never torn into one, but probably the piston on the pump itself has a leaky seal/oring, so I would look at that first.  I say just start tearing it down.

That's pretty much the only thing that can go wrong with these, is a leak.  pump it up some, then listen to it.  Is there air escaping somewhere?  there shoudn't be.

Is it really grimy, that could be covering up the leak
