odd overheating issues

so i just put a new themostat in my truck. the heater now works great and runs at normal temperature, but sometimes out of the blue it stsrts to overheat. i stop ans shes good to go. everything is new in the system, and so are the hoses? this one has me puzzled

After replacing everything in your cooling system, you are gonna get more air pockets than normal and it needs a bit longer running wiht out the cap on. There is also a chance that you got one of the many crappy therms sold. But since you did replace everything... I would say run it for a while and see if she don't get better. Burp the system.  Park on an incline, as steep as reasonable and open the radiator cap. Use caution as the vehicle may be too hot. (Trust me, scalded face is no fun.)  This should allow the air pockets to bleed off and the air to escape.

i didn't even know they had a cap like that, ( learn somthin knew everyday )  but i get my thermostats from toyota. i've had really bad luck with local parts stores thermos.
I'd like to quit thinking of the present as some minor insignificant preamble to something else~~~~~
