No Power to Heater Blower - 1981 Pickup
« on: Nov 06, 2005, 09:44:56 PM »
I searched but couldn't find anything on this, so...my heater blower is not getting any juice. I checked (multi-meter) all 4 wires into switch AND the three at the blower motor, but no power anywhere. New (different) blower worked in the truck it was pulled from, and PO installed new resistor in his attempt to get the heater working. I have power coming out the back of the fuse box (heater wire), but nothing on the business end (switch or blower).
Could it be the Heater Relay?  AND...where might that little jewel be located on my 81?  It isn't any of the three located on passenger kick panel.

Thanks.

I'm not positive, but that puppy might be wedged up behind the glove box. (you'll need 3 midgets and a sawzall to get to it)

:funny: I laughed so loud, if I had neighbors nearby they'd think(know) I was crazy.....seriously though, I rent myself out for just such occasions

FSM for an 85 toy says it's on the heater box on the passenger side.  Yes, if it's dead, your heater won't blow.  I replaced mine (83) couple years ago and I seem to recall it being on the driver side of the heater box inside the cab.

Thanks Fireball - I didn't check that high up under the dash, but Hey! We like to refer to ourselves as "little people". j/k

All-Set - isn't that the resistor on the driver side of the heater box?  I"m going to replace that as well, just to try to mark another item off the list of possibilities.

Thanks.
