1981 1st Gen Pickup!
« on: Oct 04, 2005, 09:49:17 PM »
I purchased this rig a month or so ago to build up but decided to build my 4Runner instead.

This is a completely stock 1981 truck with a frame and cab that are in AWSOME condition  :clap2: . Both the frame and cab have very little to no rust. The back lower part of the bed has a good bit of rust.

The 22R runs but has an idle problem. When I got the truck it would not idle at all, after a can of carburetor cleaner and some time the truck will idle until it gets hot then it wants to die. I haven’t spent a lot of time messing with the engine because I planned to swap a 22RE in its place. I’m thinking it’s probably a vacuum problem.

Things I’ve purchased for the truck that will be included are:

Timing Chain with metal backed guides.
New Clutch and a Brand new Flywheel
New Aisin Water Pump
Other odd and end stuff like gaskets

I’m asking $950.00 OBO. The truck is at my brother’s garage in Cumming GA.

I have no history on the truck so I don’t know how many people have owned it or even how many miles it has on it. The odometer says 8*,***. The truck is being sold as is.

I’ll get better pictures in a few days. If you have any questions just PM, Email or give me a call on my cell phone.

It's not that no one wants it, if it was closer I'm sure alot of people would be fighting over it right now.

Cool you did say OBO  :wink2: Thats all the money I have now thats why I offered 500. I would have offered more if i had it..   I should have some more $ at the end of the week maybe.

So will it need a new engine or were you just going to put in a new 22re?  If I can just fix that engine up  and not put a new one in yet I could go a little more.

Have you done a compression test?

thanks for considering anyway.  Im about 4 1/2 hours from you I guess.

Dont go out of your way to do one but thanks if you do.

Do you have any pics of the "good bit of rust" part on the bed?  IS it on the inside of the bed or is it that little bit on the outside in the pics?

should have never traded the taco
