I haven't been to bald mountain for about 8-10 years and I remember going past Merlo Park in Stirling City.  Does anyone have directions on how to get there?  Thanks

Not sure where Stirling City is, but to get to Bald Mountain, just drive up to shaver, and make a right on your first turn going to Dinky I think. Then its somewhere on your left. I know there are directions around here, Mike has put them up several times, just do a search, sorry I dont have any links for you.

I had already searched under "bald mountain", which showed pictures and trail runs but no info on how to get there.  There is also a bald mountain near the Fresno area, but the one I am talking about is up past magalia, then hit stirling city and go east.........from there I can't remember how to get there.

Ending Elevation: 7,832 Feet (2441.4 Meters)

General Description

Located in the Pineridge Ranger District, this is a great beginner's route with a excellent view from Bald Mountain Summit. Bald Mountain is a 7,832 summit that is in close proximity to the Dinkey Creek Campgrounds. The road is gated for seasonal closure, but is typically open June to September.

The trail can be accessed by going west on Dinkey Creek Road for seven miles until you reach Rock Creek Road. Turn north here and you will find the trailhead about two miles up the road on the left.

Directions from Shaver Lake: Go west on Dinkey Creek Road for seven miles until you reach Rock Creek Road. Turn north here and you will find the trailhead about two miles up the road on the left.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Open: June through September (NOTE: Seasonal closure of the gate subject to snowFall.) .

WRONG AREA!!!

To get to Bald mountian look out, you go up past merlo park... go through there go through all the switchbacks, cross the 2 bridges, and youll get to a Y in the road and as of right now, it looks like most traffic goes striaght, TURN LEFT at it. Its a big Y in the road but like I said, it looks like you go stright, but turn Right, the road is C-LINE, I believe...(its about 8 miles from stirling city) (Once you cross the 2 bridges its the only road on the left side that DOES NOT HAVE A GATE!) You turn and go up that and there will be a few roads off the road, most are very un travled...infact, all are. Once you go up that about a mile or 2, there will be a clearcut and then right before the clearcut theres a main road (kind of) that goes off to the right... TURN RIGHT on that. It will say county RD and have an arrow pointing uponce you get on it. Go up that and youll get to it, just stay on the main road..... [If you happen to miss this road, it will go around the back side of the mountain and youll get to an intersection and all you have to do is turn right]

Ill get a map off my GPS software...

Maybe I cant get a screenshot off my GPS software. I get lost trying to read the roads because the names throw me off and then they say different ones are the main ones. Id think since youve been up there before that my description could get you there pretty good.

BUT Once you get out of Stirling, go through the Yellow gate right after Merlo Park, go up, its about 8 miles like I said, turn left on either C or T LINE (I think its C) go up another 1-2 miles and youll see the clearcut that will be on the right side of the road, and right when the clearcut starts, theres a road that runs along the south side of it, thats the road you want and youll turn right on it. Once you get on that road youll see a sign that says county road, keep going straight up that, stay on the "main" road and youll keep going up, and youll get to the lookout.

^Thats kind of a more clear explanation then the first one. Hopefully you can find it.

Thanks for all the input.  I tried to make it up to Bald Mtn last weekend and went through Kimshew Falls (over bridge, where 2 rivers join into one) and stayed on the "P" line and finally reached a small town called Ragdump, then explored P line 160.  I remember getting to a 4 way intersection and there was a sign on the right hand side, which was County road.  I ended up going straight through the intersection but turned around soon after.  It sounds like if I would have turned onto County road I would have gotten there.  Now I just need to convince my buddies that I know the way.  Thanks

At Merlo park stay to the left. You went right, off the pavement to Kimshew falls.
Stay to the left past the park, the pavement will end. That road will take you down the mountain to bridges LB was talkin about.
They are doing tons of logging up there right now. The road looks like a highway.
The left turn is probably about 3 or 4 miles past the bridge. I think that's the direction they are loggin also.
Then like LB said, a mile or 2, then turn right. Stay on that road til you hit the tower. (not too hard though)

Thanks LB and Fireball........I did take a right instead of a left at Merlo Park.  I am looking forward to driving up to Bald Mtn, especially now that they will have some snow.  Thanks again

Have fun, and let us know how much snow is there.
