In my 84 4Runner, I've got nothing.  It's just an empty space where a stereo used to be but the previous owner took it with him.  I am wondering how to mount a replacment stereo and my CB radio in that empty space.  I don't see anything to attach the sides of the radios to?  Will I need to custom make some metal brackets?  I'm just trying to get an idea before I tear up the dash

1.Buy a stereo install kit at like best buy, good guys, etc.
2.Install kit and stereo
3.Enjoy! :gap:

really though, its some plastic pieces that screw together and bolt into the center section, then the stereo slides into that.  If you have a smallish CB, you can put that under the stereo.

You might need the metal brackets that go between the side of the radio and the metal framework in the dash.  You can get those from a dealership or maybe a junk yard.
