newb to washington wheelin
« on: Sep 27, 2005, 06:42:18 PM »
some of my friends and myself have just gotten into wheeling and we are wondering where good trails are round seattle.  so far we go to reiter pit and use issabella and index wall trails.  i personally am building up to rockcrawl, bought my truck 3 weeks ago.  i bought a 85 standard cab 22re completely stock.  so far i have taken off the bed and put in a rear locker by myself, that sucks when it is your first time in a diferential.  right now three of us have vehicles, mine my friend has a j**p on 35s and my other friend has a 98 tacoma with a small lift and 33s.  we would like more trails and places that we are capable of wheeling.  in the next month i should be setup for fairly hardcore stuff.  i am making a flatbed, front locker, 35s, and a marlin transfer case.  marlin really should make a kit for installing chevy spings since i think that is what i am going for but right now it is going to be completely custom.  if anyone has good places and suggestions of what else to do it would be greatly appeciated.  i should have pics up in the next couple of days.

Im running short & dirty next month along with a bunch more trails Ive never tried at Rimrock.  Should be fun..   :)

You'll never see me on pucker ridge though.  I have no use for dying by rolling about 1000 feet down the side of a mountain.  ;)

locked the rear with a lockrite last weekend.  my dad and i just took measurements for the bed tonight so we should start builind it next weekend.  still need to lock my front end.  once the flatbed is done i am going to put in 63" chevies and go up to 35s.  should be a completely custom build up.  making spring and shock mounts the whole shebang.  bought the truck with a rebuilt 22re with 50k miles on it 270k total.  it was bone stock when i bought it and so far havent had the time to do a lot of work dam school.

Do yourself a favor and swap the 3rds front to back.  That lockright will do ya a lot more good in the front.  Weld the rear and presto your locked front and rear for under $300.

This is my junk:

Check $300 in the projects section page 9 and up to see the buildup of this little beatn bastid. :gap:

we arent going for sure next weekend but probably the next weekend since we have friday off of school.  my priority now is getting a flatbed on my truck.  on the way back i spun out on the freeway and went flying off the freeway about 50 feet.  managed to miss a giant cement poll holding up a bridge by 10 feet and the guardrail further up by 50.  also if i wasnt going backwrds when i went off i prolly woulda rolled my truck since there was a hll that went up a bit before it went down.  ill just call it my super lucky day but it was scary as hell.  so this week and during the weekend my dad and i are going to fab up and install a flatbed so it is safer for the road i dont want :pokinit: like that happening again.

                                                                                         :offtopic:
With the added weight of the flat bed it will help a little compared to no bed.  But even then You gotta be ready for drifting when you have a locker.   My f-150 is welded in the rear and it is a trip in the rain.  Take your rig out some time when nobody's on the road, or better yet a big parking lot where their are not a lot of people.  Start spining some cuts,  Practice some Drifts.  Once you get to know your rig yu'll be ready for it.

Rememer your in a 4x4 truck, it can roll easy.

I learned the hard way.

Not saying you dont know how too drive, just my  :twocents: .

Heres pics of my F-150 I rolled.

i was that other dude with dothemonkey. had a blast up there(even tho it wasn't for long) and was scary when he calls me telling me he flew off the road, god knows how he didn't do any damage what so ever(thank the lord)

i'll break down what rigs we have that go up(its a variety)

Dusty's got an almost gun metal chevy c10, 37's

I got a 93 Yj on its way to being built up(sits on 35's right now)

Dothemonkey has his 'yota hes startin' up

Trickett's got a '98 Tacoma with all-pro lift on 32s

Derek gotsed a Ford that goes up, but always breaks something, we have yet to put it through some deep mud.

dunno if they are on this board, but saw a group of a jeep, sami, toy. jeep lost a valve stem, we blew up the tire when they fixed that. and then i went up behind a tan'ish colored tacoma(think it was a crew cab) with a blue jeep.(i was the dude in the green yj and had the friend that was in the green tacoma) weekend before last.

i live in Lynnwood.  i just finished my flatbed project also so i should be posting my buildup pretty soon in the projects section.  i really like the look of it and the fact that it is totally custom.

I made a liar out of myself this weekend.  I ran pucker ridge.  Its all hype when its dry, in the wet or snow I wouldnt run it but when theres just a bit of moisture its not that bad.  You could drive a honda civic across the ridge itself.
