I moved my shackle hanger 5 and 3/4 inch up (I think thats what it was, either that or 5/8s, ill go measure) and then I used the stock F150 shackles and used the other shckles making a dual shackle.

Also my springs were 54 inches... I just measured the difference between the spring pins and thats how much I moved it forward.

I think I  moved my front hangers 3 1/4" forward, that moved my front end forward around an inch. On the rear end I didn't move it as far forward because I wanted the rear end back a little.

dentedfender

you moved it towards the front of the car? or is that just so you can run the dual shackle setup because i just wanted to run my 3inch longer shackles

FIREBALL

Moved then towards the front. Because the springs are longer than stock from the front eye to the center pin I had to move the hanger forward to keep the axle from being too far back. (further back than stock)
I ran the dual shackle in the for 2 reasons. One to gain travel out of the rear since that's where we usually get the least amount from and two because it was easy. I didn't have to move the shackle hanger at all, just bolt on the ford shackle, then my longer shackle and I was done.

dentedfender

yeah i got my new shackle hanger and spring hangers coming in the mail so im just gonna move it(plus i had to sawzall the springs out and one of the shackles didnt make it) but i have been getting a hole :pokinit: load torn out of my runner ill put pics up tomorrow i left the camra in the garage.

can people post up some pics of the flex they are getting with the f150 springs. I was thinking about putting some on the rear of my 1990 4runner when I SAS it. Fireball, what do you think about how these springs work on the 2nd gens?

Word hard, Keep your head in the game and if anyone gets in your way tell them you don't give a damn !

FIREBALL

They work awesome, but you're probably going to have to put in an add a leaf too. These 4runners are real heavy!!
I actually had add a leafs in my first rig too. Firmed it up a bit for on road driving and didn't sacrifice any off road flex. I'm actually thinking about add some leafs from another pack on my runner just because it's so heavy. It's borderline being just right, right now.

FIREBALL

Just a crappy poser shot in the driveway, i'm still waiting for pics from MCR4. This doesn't really show how well the back flex's.

red90runner

so fireball, you have the f150's front and rear? Do the f150's require blocks or long shackles like chevy's or just AAL's. Thanks for the help.
-Pat

FIREBALL

Yes, front and rear.
On the rear I built my hanger into the factory droped link mount. I put the spring eye in the same place as the bolt that originally held lower link. I also built my own shackles and they are longer than stock, but not terribly long.
If you need exact measurements let me know and I can get them in a couple of days. With pics too.

red90runner

yeah that would be very interesting to see because I will probably be going this route. Thanks alot for all your help. How do you like the springs on the front. it looks like they flex pretty well. you ever drive it on the street? More flex pics would be great. Your 4runner is awesome by the way.

FIREBALL

"More flex pics would be great"    You're tellin me. I've been too busy driving the stupid thing the last few trips. I'm hoping to have some better pics soon.
Thanks for the compliment! It was really pissing me off for awhile, but i've finally started getting all the little bugs worked out and now i'm starting to have fun.
I don't drive on the street much (still need to get to the referee) but the times that I have it does pretty well. It dives a little too much on hard braking, but it's tolerable. Cornering isn't too bad, it definetly leans some, but i've seen worse. The Bilsteins really helped a lot with the on road handling.
The flex is awesome. I can use all of the 14" Bils up front.
Tomorrow i'm on duty til thursday morning, so i'll try and get some pics up thursday, maybe before noon.

red90runner

sounds great dude. I saw some pics of your rig under the Marlin Crawler rubicon run post. I wish I could have gone on that but I went up the week or two ago before that in my samurai and I think broke a birf. Your rig looked good in those pics those pics made me wish I had gone. Oh well, next year.

oh yeah and i forgot my rear spring hanger sits on the bend of the frame for my center pin to line up with stock so i think im gonna cut a hole in the spring hanger that lets the frame sit inside a bit that way i dont have to make a filler piece but im not sure what did you guys do who run these springs?

Nice fireball. I like how you mounted those hangers. Very unique. Do you have any flex shots besides the one in your driveway. Nice setup man!
