20r problems(im thinking of a new engin)

Ok i bought a 81 long box from a junk yard and iv had prolbems ever since i had it. i put a carb kit in an it ran good until i burnt up the fuel pump. after i put in the new one when u star the truck in the cold morin it ideals at around 500 rpms but when u drive it it ideals at around 2500rpm what should i do i need help :_order:  :hammerhead:  :help:


     im gettin to the point were i just want to  :flamer:  the whole truck and leave it just to rust and get old what should i do

time for a weber if ya ask me ,   if memory servs me you can adjust that cold idle jet up, and the choke set screw, and the set your fast idle a bit slower

if its a 20R the carb is probably 24-25 years old now, so it might be time to rebuild.

not any more unless you find used.  new weber kits are hitting $500 now some places, being that the factory has been on strike nearly 3 years and the stocks of their carbs are getting depleted.  redline sells a new carb kit that isn't a weber but is supposedly good, no idea about them yet as to parts availability etc.

Holley bought out Weber, but the fact remains that the factory has been on steee-rike for many moons now...I don't know about regular carb kits, but there are noe more smog legal carb kits in the US...I've called everywhere from here in cali to NY trying to find one...

ok im sick ovf this 20r engine  i was woundering on if i pu in a 22re how much will it cost and what will i have to change in it also if i od the 3RZ what do i have to buy how much will the engin cost and all the parts and what mod will i have to do

X2...I think you'd be much happier with the power of the 3RZ compared to the RE...even though it will cost more, if you're gonna do the swap, do it once.
