guys having trouble putting pics up cant seem to get them small enough, this is an Aussie model hilux d/cab SR5 with a stock 3RZ untouched
we ran it on the dyno standard-88hp @ wheels
with turbo- 151hp @ wheels ( this is with factory computer and stock exhaust) (8 psi)
                           with 3" exhaust- 166hp @ wheels
with after market computer 215 hp @ wheels (11psi )
we have not touched the engine, no decompression , no injector mods, if we put bigger injectors in we can up the boost and who knows what the hp output will be. but since this is my girls daily driver i might leave it there ( for now anyway )
i made the manifold cooler pipes and mounted the cooler, and with the help of some switched on guys it went together pretty easy( few days to fit and a few more to sort out the computer)
and it drives sweet.
I'll keep trying with the pics and dyno charts

we didn't go looking for any extra at the time because we were looking for what it had straight of the street, this is rear wheel horse power in an Aussie hilux, what are you guys getting out of yours?

I am pretty sure that this is at the crank but there is no way that you lose 62HP through the drive train. And I thought they de-tuned OUR engines here in the states. Bummer man, but hey your kicking ass with 215HP at the wheels with only 11psi when stock is 88HP. You looking to get some more are you going stop while ahead? I wonder how much the bottom end in those engines can take.

I HEAR THAT  IN A 2 WHEEL DRIVE UTE THEY PUT OUT ABOUT 100 TO 110 @ WHEELS, AND LIKE I SAID WE DIDN'T GO LOOKING FOR THE LOST POWER, THE ENGINE SOUNDS AND FEELS GOOD AND YOUR RIGHT WERE NOT GOING TO PUSH IT TO MUCH MORE UNTIL WE SEE HOW IT HANDLES IT. WE PUT ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLL ON THE DASH SO I CAN WIND IT FROM ABOUT 160HP TO 215HP  WITH THE TWIST OF A KNOB.
HOW DO I SHRINK PICS SO I CAN POST THEM???

The plumbing is very clean looking. What did you use for an intercooler? Im sure it was off the shelf for another vehicle right? That picture plays tricks on my head having the clutch cylinder and the master cylinder on the left side.

INTERCOOLER IS AN IMPORT AFTERMARKET, CAN GET THEM IN ALL DIFERENT SIZES FOR A FEW HUNDRED BUCKS(AUS) I JUST LOOKED FOR ONE THAT WOULD FIT, IT WAS A TIGHT FIT BUT IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE IS WAS MENT TO BE THERE, THIS PIC WAS TAKEN BEFORE I CUT THE HOLES FOR THE PIPES, WHICH ARE 21/2" MANDREL BENT EXHAUST TUBE WELDED, SMOOTHED AND 2 PACK PAINTED.

and here is the exhaust manifold, I ended up painting it flat black, its made from steam pipe

If you made that manifold you are officially a badass

RHG

Did you do the work on the turbo header? Thats some sweet work. I was in a welding class where we welded some pipe together then smoothed and polished it. Didnt turn out very good. Must take lots of test fitting to get it all fitted up

the manifold is the key to where every thing sits and it was made without pulling the headers of the car, so it was lots of measuring and and a bit of luck that it fitted so well, the only mod made to make it fit was to cut the corner of the air-conditioning pump mount to clear the edge of the manifold. ( this is a prototype afterall) i've tried to make it look as factory as possible, lots of head scratching at the start making sure it was all going to fit   :crossed: and it kind of just fell into place, its almost like they left enough room for everything on purpose.

Does any one in the states make something like this? I think I need one.

OK here is  a picture of the manifold as it was going together, the flange plate is available of the shelf from the exhaust shop $20 for the flame cut one that i used here, if i do another I'll use a laser cut one the finish is a lot better, the pipe is cast steel steam elbows and tee and is also available of the shelf. so with some pretty basic tools - angle grinder, MIG welder, die grinder, sanding pads and lots of beer  , oh and a bit of time, it really wasn't that hard.
not knowing exactly where to start was probably the the biggest hurdle but like i said before once i started it kind of just went together.

What trans do have and what kind of computer mods did you make to get more fuel?
Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
There are only 3 kinds of people in the world, those who can count and those who can't. Which are you?

turbo 3RZ

box is w56 5 speed and the computer is a Link out of New Zealand, fully programable controlls ignition, fuel, boost...... and more.
It still runs the factory comp to keep everything else happy, we started of using the factory comp and it ran pretty good, but there were problems at idle due to the air flow censor and it was very thirsty, the new comp runs a MAP censor and with the fuel/ignition changes gets plenty of fuel, but its at its limit now without bigger injectors.

HOLY CRAP :o  :shocking:  :yikes:

I JUST found this post.

Wow, I have nothing to say. That is so amazing. What, a good 280 at the crank? At least?

11psi on the stock bottom end??

I am going to be Supercharging mine soon, using all stock electronics, and I was just thinking about 4 or 5 psi on the stock engine with stock internals (9.5:1 compression). I am not really looking for a lot more peak power, but just rather a more broad torque band for when I go 37" tires. My stock powerband starts around 3k and I would love for that to start anytime I touch the throttle :eyebrow: I love superchargers

But if you are running that much boost on the stock bottom end, then wow. That is soo cool and I am so glad to see that it can handle that much boost!!

Cheers to ya buddy!!!! Awesome awesome AWESOME!!!   :beerchug:

That manifold turned out amazing.  Cant wait to see what the fron end looks like with the intercooler all mounted up.  Keep us posted, and teach me how to make stuff like that  ...
