Toyo all the way its not even a comparison.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

What makes the Toyo's so much better, what if any are the advantages to the SSR?

I have 33" swamper SSR's on my samurai. I love them! They are an all around great tire. Everybody that talks smack about them probably has never run them. Personally I can't find a better tire and the guy who told me to buy them had them on his samurai (33x14.50) and now on his 4runner(37's). He swears by them. He told me a story about when he was on the rubicon when a friend challenged him to go up an obstacle basically impossible for a short wheelbased samurai. After his friend tried many times after slipping with his 36" TSL's, he went up it with his 33" SSR's and made it to the top then backed down 1/2 way and did it again without slipping a tire. That story sold me and the SSR's have not dissapointed. If you are interested in a review on the tires, my friend with the samurai wrote a review on them and you can search under google or something for Swamper SSR review and it should come up. Hope this helps.

I bought a truck that had  a set of new 37" ssr's and I absolutely without a doubt hated those damned tires.  I live in the PNW and the mountains are almost always muddy.  Well I figured since Ive ran almost every other interco tire Id give them the benefit of the doubt.  Big mistake, I couldnt go fawking anywhere with them and I was constantly nervous about the passenger car sidewalls.  I sold them and bought 38.5" sx's and never looked back.

I ran with a couple of tj's that had almost the exact same setup.  One had 35" mtr's the other had 35" toyo's.  The toyo's worked flat out awesome compared to the mtr's on every obstacle, whether it was muddy or dry.  My next set of radials will be 37" toyo's.

I've run 3 sets of SSR's now and wasn't tottaly dissapointed.  Ran 37's on my Jeep, 35's on my Runner and 37's on my Toy Rig (F-250 6.0)  I wouldn't say they're horrible but not nearly as good as the Toyo.  I was skeptical when I bought my toyo's as to how well they do in the snow especially since we do alot of snow wheeling where I live and I loved the toyo's.  I only had 3 wheel drive last time I was up there and I turned circles around MTR's and Swampers.  Maybe that was because I was with a Jeep :dunno:

Lol yeah dude, and with Kandi's stock pickup! Man that was so much fun!

It was awesome though to see a bone stock (minus the 3 inch body lift) 3rd gen pickup out do that Jeep with about 15 grand of bling bling "look good" bolt ons, get spanked by her truck.  I love toyotas!!!

Poowoo

True that... He really had that much into that jeep? It didnt really look that great...

I run the 35" Toyos, quieter than an all terrain, and kick a$$ in mud, rocks, etc.....still waiting for the snow to come to test that out. So far 4000 miles and no measurable wear.
They are designed for fullsize trucks in mind so the compund seems to last forever on our light rigs.

ps: they are more expensive than drugs, but money well spent IMO.

I ran 32-11.5 SSR's on my daily driver for about 45000 miles.  They did decent on the road for the first 20k and then started getting fairly loud and out of balance.  Off-road they did better than BFG mud-terrains but not by as much as you might expect for muddy terrain.  By the end, I had some serious looking slices in my sidewalls and tread lugs from spinning my tires in the rocks but never had a problem with flats or punctures.  Maybe I was just lucky.

That said, I'm running 35" Toyos now and they drive soooo much better on the road.  I've only had them for the last few thousand miles so I can't say how well they do off-road yet but everything I've heard and read seems to be positive.  Besides looking cool, they really seem to live up to the hype.  Also, have you noticed what all the Les Schwab employees now have on their trucks?  Prices have stepped down a little at about $215 for a 35-13.5 x 15 when I bought a couple months ago which was only $20 more than an MTR from the catalogs.
If it never breaks, people can only speculate how much it was overbuilt.

Yea my sister had BFG Mud Terrains on her jeep, she has put a buttload of miles, they always seemed to do fairly well in the snow/mud, but she never wheeled in anything really extreme... she has about 35000 miles on her tires and they have about 50% of tread left on them, not too shabby I guess...

well I got PW hooked up at our Swabs store.  I know the assistant manager pretty good and he got us a wheel tire combo out the door for 1100 (with a trade in on his old wheels and tire) but 208 for 37's aint bad.  He's eating the tax as well.  So yeah I've convince him I think to go that route.  I got the 37's for only 10 bucks more than the 35's a piece.  I know you didn't want to go any bigger than 35's PW but....you'll thank me later when we go wheelin that I talked you into the 37's

Poowoo

lol OK GR!  :) Just playing dude, yea I know in the long run I will be happier with the 37's, my only concern was how am I going to push those bad boys, but with our new idea for gears and what not I think that will work out well! I CANT WAIT TO START!
