I am wanting to lift the rear of my 93 pickup 4 inches.  which is better to use.  I have access to a mazda and a waggoneer.  I was wanting to use my stock mounts, but will put new mounts on it I have to.  I don't really know how to make a spring pack.  how do I do it?

ive never run a waggy rear pack but im running a partial waggy front pack and love it i think the waggy rear pack would be a little to stiff so you would probably want to take a couple leafs out of the pack, my friend runs the mazdas and there a little to soft there starting to turn into an s shape but you could ad leafs to stiffen them up. when you go to modify the pack you will find a center pin that holds all of the leafs togeather you loosen that and take it out then you add or remove leafs untell your happy with it then get a new spring center bolt and put it back together i believe you will want a 3/8 spring center bolt i get mine at my local napa but they can be a challenge to find cus not every store carrys them. and with both mazdas and waggys you need to move the spring hangers. good luck and have fun.

you can use leaves from the mazda and make a toy/mazda hybrid spring pack,  if you have a large vise you can reuse the center bolts

lots of times with old packs you end up ruining them in the process of taking them off ive had to cut them off before and i dont like reusing the dinky little factory center bolts but thats just me

oh well i meant after you replace the stock bolt,  you can reuse the replacement instead of getting a new bolt each time,  yea most "original" bolts have to be cut   sorry i should have explained myself better

I think I will make a toy/mazda pack.  I am wanting to get at least a 4 inch lift.  do I just add some leafs, or someone told me I had to take a torch and heat it up and bend it to make more arch.  how do I do this.  pics would be nice.  what about caddy springs?

Mazda's will break in short order.  Waggies have been used woth some good success.  But the caddy swap rules the roost.  4" is a cake walk to get out of them and they'll work awesome.

4runner rick said he has yet to bust a mazda spring with doubled up main leafs,,so that might be the key to running them.....I have seen plenty bust,,I would vote against mazdas..

f-150 leafs on a truck work killer..
the caddy springs on shawn's truck seemed to work real good,,just seemed to have a good bit of axle wrap to them,,but nothing that a trac bar won't fix..

I ran mazda springs on my old rig for 4 years with no problems. I also know of about 3 or 4 other local guys who run mazdas , no problems with theirs either.

Heres what setup we run: top 3 mazda leafs, 1 (or 2) cut toyota leafs, toyota overload leaf.

You MUST run the toyota overload or your springs will bend into an "S" from negative arching. 

You MUST run some sort of taction bar. Without one axlewrap is unbearable.


Whoever told you to heat your springs with a torch has been smoking crack  . DO NOT try this.

It will lift it about 3 or 4 inches , depending on how many extra leafs you add to the spring pack.

How bout a spring pack with f150's ? Sorry for the thread hijack but I was just wondering how some people have put together other packs. I heard WT has used broncoII springs. Are these different than ranger springs? I had a ranger and it sucked ass when it flexed. Lets hear the different pack combos and how they have worked out. Also how much lift you got out of it.

I have seen many mazda packs snap..so I guess it really depends how hard there abused..

its hard to say how much lift one erson my get..there is so much room for variables,,shackle length,,buggy leaf or not,,and not to mention most packs are used so it can vary from spring to spring..one pack may have had a load all its life while the other hardly ever saw a load...
