I want to make some 2 or 3 inch shackles for the rear of my pickup.  how long do they have to be for a 2 and a 3 inch lift.  the reason why I am asking for both 2 and 3 inch is because I can't decide whether to run 2in shackles and 3 in blocks or 3in shackles and 2in blocks.

How about 1" shackles and no blocks.  The sawzall is your friend.  To get 2-3" of lift out of shackles alone they'd have to be 8 and 10" respectively. :ack:  For every 1" of shackle you add you'll get about 1/2" of lift out of it.  A shackle that long would be insane.

that will be just temporary until I get rear lift springs, because I am going to just barely be able to afford the sas.  will it hurt anything to run shackles that long temporarily until I get the springs after the sas?

4" longer than stock for 2" and 6" longer than stock for 3" since you are only lifting half of spring. That assumes your shackle is vertical too

dude dont run lift blocks, all they will do is make it so that your rear will have bad axle rap, do it the right way and just get the springs dont screw up the rear by not having patients, do it right the first time dude, i no from experience. and shackles you should only have about two inchs over stock that would be perfect.

You can go with Chevy or Waggy springs from a junkyard for like $100 and get 2-3" of lift then weld a 1" spacer/block to the perch, or throw in  an add a leaf because theyre so soft it won't hurt your flex much

Just get new lifted springs.  By the time you get used springs, you can get new springs for a little more $, that aren't worn out.  If your going to do it, do it right the first time.  Look in the parts for sale section, somebody might have some for sale.

Junkyard IS doing it right. ;)  Why spend extra hard earned cash on a generic off the shelf spring when you can easily build a spring pack to suit your needs perfectly for damned near nothing?
