Someone please help me.  I can't find a single shop in Virginia that knows Toyotas.  I just put a new long block 22re in my 89 runner and after replacing the maf and having the distributor out several times i can't figure out my problem.  When i accelerate it feels like something is holding back, no power.  Feels like timing, but i cant get it right.  It actually feels like it picks up better when you let off the pedal.  More pedal, less power????  Doesn't sound right.  Someone help!

My 86 runner does that and I keep cracking distributor caps.  I replace the cap and it runs good.  But it still does the same thing only when its raining out?  ???        Sorry man i have no clue,  some here have told me it is my EGR valve or some sensor. :dunno:

I bet if you're real sweet to Reklund5 he might offer some insight.

Whats the timing at?  Is the cam timng correct?  What happened to the old engine, did it lose a head gasket?  When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?  Did you screw up the vacuum lines?
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

lost head gasket, head fused with block... Bought new long block fuel filter mas reused accesories(?) and set timing according to sticker under hood
