Every Ford  that was built with 4.10/D44  had the 4.09's in the front, never seen a set for a 60 stamped with the 45:11 before make sure you have the right size R&P before you tear it down.  I heard that some guys who run alot of mud run a slightly higher gear (faster) in the front to help with steering/understeer, some say thats why Ford did the 4.09/4.10 thing but as stated above its to close to make a difference.

I don't plan to do mud anymore...been there done that and..ummm...let's say I'mma stick to rocks as much as I can....But the wierd part is my HPD44 is out of a '79 f-150 and my rear 60 is out of a '70 f-250 so I'm not sure what gears are in either of em..I gotta find out for sure obviously before I can even start...But the guy I bought it off of told me it's 4:something in the front (10, 09, 11) and 3:something in the rear.  I know they're mismatched cuz I can't engage the 4x4 without a bunch of whining and moaning and groaning, and when it finally does engage, the rear spins faster than the front. :headshake:

there is a trick you jack it up and spin the tire by hand and count how many times the d-shaft turns like 3 and 1/2 rotations would prob be 3.55, 4 would = 4.10 and so on some one down the line probably swapped gears, in 1970 on an F-250 4.10 was standard 4.56 opt, 2wd i think you coulg order 3.55/3.73 any how good luck with it.

If the rear is out of a ford it'll most likely have 3.55 or 3.50's they seemed to use the hell out of those ratio's.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Yeah, that's what I was told, I knew it's a 3:50something... I emailed the gear company 3 days ago and they've still not emailed me back :tantrum: Guess it's time to start breathin down their neck...I'll let ya'll know what i find out

Dont know if you have already found ou what gears you have but I thought most 3/4 and 1ton fords came with 4.10 or 4.11 gears the 1/2 to front axle should have like 3.50 or 3.73 not exactly sure kind of a guess.  But to know your sure pull your diff covers and count the teeth on your ring gear and on your pinion the divide both those numbers by each other and thats your gear ratio   exmp. Your gear set said 45:11  45/11=4.09  rounded to the nearest tenth is 4.10.  There now  I need to go let my brain cool down.

Enuf droma, what we all what to know is, are you going to let crawler dan "put it in"?
