Twin stick with duals?
« on: Jul 25, 2005, 07:58:06 PM »
Any advantage to this besides 2wd Low Low?
I'm short a transfer case shifter, so I'm wondering if the twin stick would be worth it? :dunno:

Absolutely!  I love my twin stick and I use it constantly.  I have a lockright in the front and Im uber long wheel base so I kick the front out for tight turns and if I up against a tree with the rear tire I just kick it into 2x and gas it a bit to slide the rear over.  Its a great mod IMO.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Right on, I was thinking about the new "Bling Bling" twin stick, but I think I'll go with the $150 with boot version instead.

dug up from the grave... so what is all the hype about the twin stick. What does it do and can you use it on a single case?  I think i want one but not sure exactly what is does. But i wanna know if it does anything on a single case. So if you put it on a single 4.7 what would t do for ya?

all it does is allow you to have a 2wd low (or double low) range. yes it can be used on a single case.

WOW, old post.
The twin stick is great! Running trails in 2wd-low is the in thing.

im running duals with a 4.7 rear and i can still run 2 low, since my rear case has the 4.7's, i put it in 2wd, and then throw my front case into low, the twin stick just allows you to put the rear case into low as well and keep it in 2wd, so i could run, stock low, 4.7 low, or both low and be creeping in 2wd, i think im gonna save my money for a winch......

is it front wheel drive 4low or normal 4low rear? Why i think i want one is if it was front wheel, then it would be something to get. but if it is not then just dont lock in your hubs and use 4low thats 2wd 4low right? I use 4low without my hubs locked in all the time...

so then it it pointless to put on a single case, cause if you just dont lock in your hubs you can run 4low rwd. why cant you do that with duals or you can but people dont. I am not getting what is so good about them? to be 4wd you have to lock in your hubs otherwise you are 2wd. put the case in 4low and there you go 2wd 4low.

You don't have to get out and unlock your hubs to go from 2wd low to 4wd low or vice-versa

so you can lock in your hubs and leave them locked in, shift one stick to 4low and you are technically in 2wd 4low, shift the other when you want 4wd 4low?

I use my 2lo all the time out on the trail.  In fact I only engage the front drive when it is needed so I put less wear and tear on my whole drivetrain...

The Twin-Stick allows the use of two-wheel drive, low range, and a true neutral. With the factory shifter configuration, the neutral only disengages the transfer case from the transmission. It actually has the front and rear drivelines hooked together, so if you are towing using this, you are not wearing the transmission, but both the front and rear drivelines are spinning. The rear driveshaft can be removed for towing, however this still spins the gears in the rear axle.

The two-wheel drive low range is great for people with a front locker. As those of you setup with a front locker know, the locker keeps pulling you straight when you are trying to turn. With the Twin-Stick, just moving the 2/4 lever into two wheel drive disengages the front axle, and the locker is no longer pulling you straight. This makes tight turns much easier, while allowing the slow speed control of low range. By having two low, the front axle is relieved from undue stress, and four wheel drive can be re-engaged, even while moving, by just throwing one lever.
