Ok, so I drove my amigo ('93 Isuzu Amigo) 300 miles straight this week in 100 plus weather.  300 miles non stop, and it over heated (well, got a lot hotter than usual).  Since I got it, it just started making a noise. When I shift it has this like something is lose sound, like something winding down...loss of power, and it whines all the time now (used to only do it when I drove for awhile).  Any ideas would be nice.  I hit bout a little more than 3/4 heat on the gauge... so I let it sit for an hour and finished my trip. I's thinkin maybe the water pump but I'd like to hear some ideas before I start pullin/fixin things that aren't the problem.

If the water pump isn't leaking, don't mess with it...is this thing an auto?  and does it make the noise always when its running, or only when you drive it. how is the level of trans fluid?  Usually 3/4 on the temp gauge is ok...was it low on water(coolant), and was the overflow leaking?  could be a bad radiator cap.  if it is low on water, fill it up, and then run it till operating temp and make sure no hoses are leaking.  might wanna look into the thermostat also.

If something sounds loose around the tranny, check you U-Joints...

It is a manual tranny.  I was recommended to try swapping the water pump, but it does NOT leak so I don't wanna mess with it, but the belt squeaks when I accelerate, along with the other noises, so that's why the water pump sounds reasonable. Not sure bout the tranny fluid, coolant was full and over flow was half full, no leakage.  Just replaced the thermostat bout 1500 miles ago.

If the belt is squeaking it might be something as simple as adjusting the idler pulley to put more tension on the belt, or maybe you are in need of a new belt...belt slippage = water pump no turny = 'migo runs hot? ???

ffc,,almost sounds like your fan clutch,,does it do this cold or just warm,,fam clutches are supposed to tighten up and allow the fan to turn more as it gets hot to pull more air through the rad..so if its just on hot days this could be what your hearing..also if you have a/c and using it could contribute to some of this,,an a/c condenser get pretty hot,,so heat is transfered to the rad wich can result in higher water temps..along with the loose belt,,git dat shiat fixed yo :nonono:

It doesn't have A/C, and yeah I was thinkin it had somthing to do with the fan... It's a constant whine, used to be when it was hot, but now it's all the time, and it intensifies when it's hot.
