Timing question on 1985 22R.
« on: Jul 10, 2005, 02:21:48 PM »
I searched using the function but couldn't find anything regarding this.

I recently rebuilt the 22r in my '85 4x4 and was wondering what a good timing setting was for the completely stock motor. Right now the distributor is off by about a gear or so, and the timing is very high, we are clocking the distributor tomorrow and I was just wondering, using the stock timing tabs what to set it on?

I haven't been running the motor due to the timing being off.

IIRC, carbed 2x4 85s are 0 degrees...84-85 4x4s are 5*BTDC

Thanks much. I'll try it on 5 and see how it does.
