A 2.7L Badge? Help!
« on: Jul 08, 2005, 12:10:55 PM »
Hey guys,

I have not gone to the wrecking yards yet, I know I will waste alot of time, so I'll do some research here first...

I already have some nice "EFI" badges to put on my side B-pillar on my 1st gen Truck, and now I am looking for a "2.7" badge.

So my question is: Does anyone know of some common wrecking yard car that has a either a big block 2.7l 4cyl engine or a small 2.7l 6 cylinder? Like did Ford ever make a 2.7l V6 engine? Or Dodge/Chevy/Geo/GM/Pontiac/BMW/Merc./Cad./Etc.....

If so then I will go check out a couple cars and then just order some new badges from a dealer and get some sweet 2.7L Badges on the side of my rig :gap:

Thanks, yup 4THEWKN (Dean) just told me about the Porsche 2.7 engine.

I think that Tiburon would have a nice badge, I am going to look into that one...

thats awesome.  I think that would be the way to go.  I would suggest leaving the "L" off, and just running the 2.7 .

BTW, wouldn't quattro x quattro be 4x4?

An Audi quattro is four wheel drive, so quattro is 4x4.  A quad has 4 wheels, a quarter is 1/4 of a dollar, quattro is 4 in Spanish, etc...

His Yota is four wheel drive also, saying it like that is almost a sarcastic way of saying 4x4...like if you were to say, "is it a two times four or a four times four?"...Ya dig? :afro:
and since Quatro is spanish for 4, it works that way as well.

Bigmike-

I vote for the Audi 2.7T badge.  But keep the T and strap a turbo on that 3RZ!  Think of it...a 3RZ-GTE!  I think with about 8psi, your truck would SCREAM :yikes:  :yikes:

Yeah if somebody could get me a killer deal on a TRD Supercharger, then boost would be in my future, but I dont think I would ever want to have a Turbo, especially in a truck.

I know your Supra's Turbo, but man, being able to feather the boost through a long sweeper feels so nice. I drove a Turbo Eclipse, and aside from the FWD being a POS, the boost is either on or off... It's like this, people used to ask me how much boost my MR2 had, and I would say: "How much throttle do you want me to use?"

I know, I know.  I got you all revved up about a deal on a blower and it all fell to pieces.   :shake:   I haven't forgot about you tho...when the deal comes along you'll be the first to know...   My contacts at TRD are on high alert, but that kit's been outta production for a while.  All they had lying around was some misc. brackets that you could fab in about 30 minutes anyway.  What about a modified Paxton unit?

On a related note...Dad just bought a slightly used '03 Tundra and had me put a blower on it.  What a sweet engine- that 4.7 just comes ALIVE with some forced induction.  It NEEDS a limited slip to keep from roasting a tire in the rear.  And all my old man does is cruise it back and forth to work.  He was suprised that it's faster than any of his Porsches  :eyebrow:

When is the Mr.Too gonna hit the road again?

I could run an eaton blower or the Toyota SC14 unit, but I have to worry about Smog, and I dont have room to mount a blower as an accessory because my only available space will be used for on board air. So the only way would be the TRD intake-side-mounted blower, or fabricate an entire upper intake manifold, yeah right..

As for Mr.Two, I am thinking about selling everything I have for roughly $3k. I know I dont want to sell it, as it's my first car, but I know that once I finish college I can build another MR2 100000 times better, so I am kind'a torn.. The money sounds good to me, especially since I'm transfering to a University this fall, and I want to dump another $2k into my truck to finish it..... :ack:

Hey Mike TRD nolonger offers a Supercharger for the 2.7  You have to buy it through Alpine.  They are the ones that made it for TRD in the first place.  I think its still about $3200.00

Yeah I know.... I'm actually trying to find a good used unit ::)

I saw a PT cruiser and it had a 2.4L badge. Do they offer two different engines then?
