They are def. gonna be more than Marlins...
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I am running a new set of rear Alcan springs and they are great so far.  I chose them over Marlin springs because I didn't want to move the perch and shackle (the cost adds up to about the same in total) because the stock length springs don't allow as much body roll (less flex) and I drive mine on the street and highway often.

If you are looking for max flex, Marlin is probably a better deal (the springs are built for a weight between a truck and runner so they are a bit stiff on the trucks and soft on the runner) because they are a great spring at a lower price.  My springs were $190 each and I think the longer ones are about $20 more, plus you would have to pay or do the mount/shackle mods.  If you have the cash, Alcan can build a far superior spring, but it isn't always worth the money.  I found on mine that my shocks are actually the limiting factor until I relocate the mounts.  If you don't want to do a bunch of fab work, or pay for it, Alcan is a great way to go.

here is a link to my truck so you can see the results on mine.

If I had it to do again, I wouldn't order the springs to use a 2 inch extended shackle, with the stock length spring I think that a 1 inch extended shackle would provide more than adequate travel and also keep the shackles better protected.

Thanks for the help blackdiamond, I may just go with custom springs like my 82 has, I just want something that will look good and not be flat.

The lift is not just for looks, I will be rockcrawling with it, but I want it to look good also, should I just go find a set of first gen rear springs and put them up front and use f-150's or something in the back?

Alcan's are the shiz when it comes to Springs. Buddy of mine just put them on a newer Runner that he built up.

I was VERY impressed with the way it drives on and off the road. Flex's like mad too... but are you willing to drop 1k on springs?

Mine were $190 each for rears plus about $40 s/h, I think the fronts are a bit more.  Shouldn't cost a grand I wouldn't think?

It will cost me over a grand, I live in Canada... so I have to get them shipped. I have a quote for $185 each for the front and $225 each for the rear. That is $1,018 CAD for the 4 of them plus about $300 US to ship.

Thanks damn scary.

Is there any other ideas out there, should I just build a pack? If you think so, what should I use in the front and the rear?

If spending a grand will cause you to eat beans-n-rice then I would look at other options, but if it would only delay the rest of your planned build a few months...go for it, you will love the springs.

I'm thinking about it, they seem to be well worth the money, especially since they are custom made specificly for the truck.
