New Kid
« on: Jun 20, 2005, 10:31:13 PM »
Yello, My name is David Menne and i am 15 soon to be 16 in september and i am from Mankato, Minnesota. I just got these 2 Toyota pick ups from my mother. She found these at the car actions were she works for "Daily Auction Service", and after the actions she came home and woke me up to tell me what she had done.....well i now have a bump on my head from nailing the top part of the bunk bed. She said that with all the fees it was about $700 and that i will have to pay her half of that and i am. The red Toyota is a 1986 and the Black Toyota is a 1987 ( it has a older style bed on it but as far as year I'm not sure) The red Toyota has no braks but other than that it runs. The Black Toyota needs a rebuilt engine because the previous owner supposedly drowned it in the river or something along that line. Both truck run on 33's and just have body lifts( as for inch I'm not sure). The Black Toyota is fuel injected and the Red Yoda is a carb. Both trucks are IFS, and have 5 speed trans. They are mostly stock as far as gearing as far as i know. Well thank you and looking forward to reading more on this Form.

Well im glad u asked  :gap:  The black yota i plan to use a daily driver/weekend runner. The red yota is planed to be a all around Trail truck. I do alot of desgins with a program called "Zmodler". I first started off by making trucks for the game "4x4 Evo 2" and i made a yota a few months ago that i have grown to like so much that i want to bring it to life one of these days.

I hope you all like and please give me some feedback

:smack:  forgot to menchine the games physics really suck.......i mean they just suck... but as for plans its gonna be along time b4 i can do anything considering that i dont have a steady income nor the tools to do the project. I just moved and the previous owner of the garage "that i now use" did alot of work with metal and making some old hot rods so the garage is ready for the tools but i just cant provid them :rivers:

You most likely have most of the tools you need.  one thng that'll help though BUY A BOOK  FSM is awesome, but at least a chiltons or haynes, it'll save your life  also, when you get started, take pictures as it comes apart, and as you put it back together.  That way, th folsk on the board can help you as much as possible, and you see how to put it back together

damn am i ever jealous. i was lookin for 2 years out here in west texas and could not find a single yota. how bad is the rust on the red's frame? if its not extreme then u should get to sanding down the frame and repainting it. if theres holes in it then knock all the soft metal around the whole off if u can. not complicated work, just takes awhile and will preserve your truck. for now dont worry about welding in the holes since u dont have the equipment, just get all the rust off and repaint that frame before its gone

i'm familliar with the money problem. im about to be 18 so it wasnt too long ago that i had that problem. fixing the rust wont cost u much money (probably 75 bucks at the very most) and since u have 2 of them then u can take 1 completely apart and not be in a hurry to put it all back together. just make sure that when u steel brush/sand it down that u get ALL THE WAY TO THE FRAME wherever there is rust and that u seal the metal with some nice thick paint or bedliner. herculiner works pretty good, cheaper stuff like duplicolor bed liner is great for under the body and on the frame, seals great.

i wish money wasnt a problem. with your trucks you've got alot of different ways to go. baja, rock crawling, mud, trails, d/d, or all around.
