choke break screw

Ill be real impressed if somebody knows the answer to this one,,,,,,,,on my carburetor which happens to be an 85, there is a screw on the choke break cover that is painted yellow. I know you arent supposed to touch it but I tightened it all the way, now I need to know how many turns from tight is it suposed to be?

are you talking about the high idle screw thats pre set from the factory?the one that controls how high your engine idles cold with the choke on?

Possibly,,, there is a diaphragm with a rod inside and its actuated by the choke,,,the cover has 3 screws holding it on with a vacuum line coming out of it. The yellow painted screw is in the center, Im pretty sure it has something to do with how far the diaphragm moves

can you post a pic,,i guess depending what carb is on it..The diphram is the choke pull off,,but the cover your talking about sounds like it is the heating element wich is adjustable rich or lean..

so what is your problem,,and what are you trying to do?is your idle too high?lopeing cold??

I would back it out as many turns as you tightened it.....Just kidding I have no idea

My book shows that as the AAP, Auxilliary Acceleration Pump, but does not show a screw in the center. My bet would be that the screw is a travel limiter, limiting the amount of fuel delivered during operation.  It's supposed to improve drivability when the engine is cold.

Sounds like a vacuum pull off diaphragm. We could use a pic to be sure.

Ill post pics tonight, its on the 85 carb and the 82 that I just bought. The FSM for 81, 82, 83 and 85 does not have a good diagram of it

this is my 82 carb but its the same as the 85, oh and its the yellow painted screw
