shackle bolt q?

i've noticed my truck has those wierd bolts on the shackles and spring hangers that have no head on one side, just 2 bolts holding it to the hanger.  i'm assuming that i'm probably gonna have to cut those suckers out of there, but what's the easiest way to run standard bolts?  i'm guessing making new shackles is going to be in my future, but i never, ever see any info on replacing the headless bolts with normal ones?  how do you do it exactly?  any pics?

just take off the nut on the other side 19mm i believe, then remove the two 12mm bolts and slide it out, to run a regular style bolt you will either need new hangers, or just use big washers or weld a piece in with a smaller hole.

the shank part that is in the shackle is knureld ( sp)  so it wont turn. no need to cut them off  just use a prybar

basically, they're one piece, so either make/buy new shackles or drive/torch out the studs and adjust to run machine bolts...

if its the stock shackles your talking about,,just pull off the nuts and take the one side off..the other side will push out,,and you can pop the peice out that does not have a head,,,like iron clad said,,it has the knarling in it.

Yup, just did mine, once you take the nuts and the inside plate off all you have to do is throw a prybar between the fram and outer shackle half and start jimmying it...it'll work its way out.

i use a air hammer for takin those suckers off. thats the most fun.

jus hit it with a hammer and  GIT-R-DONE!

i also put a long chain on it and wipped it like a garden hose... make shure to duck after tho that thing will come flyin out!!!
