I have a 79 toy I just put the 4.7:1 transfer case gears in but I want to put new dif. gears.  right now I have 3.88 and I don't know whether to put 4.88 or 4.10 ratio?  I am running 33x12.50 MTR's (might go 35's) and I need more gear.  I know the 4.10's are stronger, but does that out weigh the benefits of the 4.88's?  Also which is the best locker for the rear? (besides ARB$$)  have they come out with the electric locker for the toyota yet??

with out a doubt you should get the 4:88's.

lockers i have noticed is a big disagreement sometimes.  between lots of folks.

i wanted arb but i got a detroit for the rear.  it works fine.

I've got 4.88s in my 83. with 33s. and a detroit in the back, like it all just fine. but the 4.88s do lower your road speed a bit. I can still make 70, but not a lot more with out reving more than I like to keep it at. I had 4.10s and was happy to lose'um, I've got a 5spd in mine and that helps with the raod trips
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:
