Shifter interference
« on: Mar 04, 2003, 12:31:28 PM »

I have a 3 inch body lift on my truck and i cant shift into reverse while in 4 wheel drive low.  well I cant really shift into 4th either.   I know Marlin sells the shift kits for this but since beening on a very tight budget what are some other options.

Did you just put the lift on or was it already there before you ran into problems?Although marlins shifter I think is the best way to go another is to trim tha body panel around the shifter..It suscks doing that,,best is the shifter but the trim does not cost ya anything.. :thumb:

Cut your body and get a longer hole, or modify the shifter. You can bend it but becareful how you clamp it. Also, do NOT heat it up with a torch, it will melt the inner material.

FYI, our short throws reduce the throw by 40%.

Ya i got to figure something out.  Last time i was out on a trail i had to back up on a steep hill and i couldnt use low reverse and i just ended up going down the hill, burnin the clutch and hitting a rock :smack: :thud:
Ya im on 35 with stock gears and T-case so that doesnt help either.  Im waiting to do all that once i get the solid axle in. Dont make any sence to buy two sets of R&P for the front.
