OK, yesterday I bought an $800 V6 SR5 that is in pretty good shape, except for the bed. I have been wanting to build a 'yota for a while so I figured this was a good place to start. I have heard the V6s aren't the best places to start, but what are you going to do?? It is a five speed so that is good. My plans are to do a SAS swap with a Waggy D44 because I have it from a Jeep project I was working on. I have 38" Swampers on 6-lugs wheels already.
My questions are what to do with the transfer case. I have a 4.3 Atlas that was never used, but it has a Jeep input. Can I use this at all, or just save it for a buggy project? Also, what gearing could I have in the rear and what is the best route if I have to change ratios to go with the 4.56s in the front?
The goal for this truck is to be a relatively cheap wheeler that will be used in Paragon and Rausch Creek on a regular basis. I do not have time to get real technical with it so I need the easiest route to the end point.
I was recommended by a few on Pirate to come hear for good help so hopefully I can get this thing done quick for the summer.
Thanks for the help.
