I notice that Marlin's crossover kits have i.f.s. mounting hardware. Does this hardware require the installer to mount it in a location other than the one in the instructions if moving the axle forward 2 inches (as with rears up front). Just trying to line up the ducks before shootin'.

The problem with this is that as the axle moves forward, so does the tie rod, and if its far enough forward, then the tie rod will interfer with the drag link. Basically, the ideal location to mount the box is as far forward as possible. The crucial point then becomes the pitman arm to the spring pack. If you can get this clearance down to about 1/2" then your looking really good. Also, with more of an angle on the tierod to the passenger side steering arm you have, the less bump steer will occur (which is already nil anyways).

One more quickie. You said, "If you can get this clearance down to about 1/2" then your looking really good. " Am I trying to get the clearance as close to 1/2" as possible or as far away as possible???  :dunno:

Well, the standard mounting location that our template describes is designed to get the bottom of the tierod that attaches to the pitman arm to within about 1/2" from the top of the spring pack.

We figure that a half inch is a good estimate that at so close to the front hanger, the spring is not able to compress 1/2" at that point. So that's where you would idealy want your links to line up as once your box is mounted.
