Anyone know if V6 and 4cyl thirds are same extrernal dimensions???

What the title says, I am trying to measure for my rear driveline, but I have a 4cyl in my rear housing, and I will be running a V6.  Are they the same external dimensions?  Or is one shorter or longer than the other?  Thanks
