Anyway to test a relay to see if it's bad?

RustyToy

bang it a few times and stick it back in. or get ia contianuiaty (sp) tester.
I'd like to quit thinking of the present as some minor insignificant preamble to something else~~~~~

lilbuddy

get an ohm meter ad put the negative on one side and positive on the other. I think it should work...
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

GET IT!!!

WHITE_TRASH

Pull it out toss it in the trash and replace with a standard relay.  Im running standards with my 94 harness beings the origionals were rusted and stuck...
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Uncle Jesse

to test a relay you need a power source and an ohmmeter.  You can test the control side of the relay by hooking it to power and groung and listening for the click.  If it clicks, the control side is working.  Then take your ohmeter and measure across the power side(switch side) of the realy pins.  With the relay off the power side of the relay should have infinite resistance, and with the relay on it should have less than five ohms resistance.  You can also measure the resistance of the control side of the relay (the coil side).  Average resistance of the relay coil should be about 30 ohms.

I bought a new relay from Advanced Auto, it's the same plug, but the schematics are different.

Relay from Toyota:                          Relay from Advanced Auto:
1                                                                 1
23                                                               32

So my lights still don't work.
