Paul,
The 4cyl (2.7) Tacos use the W59 tranny, so I would be about 90% sure that, yes, a W56 would bolt up to the Taco bellhousing no problem.

No and Yes, the RZ engine has a different bolt pattern than the R engine, but since the Taco is using a W-series trans, anything behind the bellhousing can be W-xx. So you could place a W56 behind a 3RZ-FE 4cyl Taco as long as you run the W59 Taco bellhousing.

displacement is where the power comes from.

also the original post was asking about the superchargered vertion.  TRD sells a bolt on blower for the Tacos that runs about $3,000 and it should be ran with a header, and big bore throttle body.

the motor is supposed to put out 200 hp with the blower.  i looked into it for my DD 2002 taco but just couldn't justify the price.  the factory warrenty would still be usable as well, because it is a "toyota modification." with "toyota" parts.

Right, that's from Pat and Mattis' webpage at http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/9975/tm_index.html

That's where I got my figures above from. Lots of good info. Also If you are looking to learn about smaller 4 cyl engines and some indept tech and talk, check out Billzilla's webpage at: http://www.billzilla.org/carindex.htm Check out some articles in his Car Tech Section.
