Heintz Toyota 85 Xtracab in progress
« on: May 05, 2005, 08:10:58 PM »
This is my friend Max's truck. We are trying to get it done and ready to wheel on Memorial day weekend. The truck was originally from california and has new 22re engine, new paint, fiberglass fenders, 5" all pro springs with all pro spring hanger, and crossover steering. Bilstein 5150 shocks, 37" MTR, high angle rear driveshaft, budbuilt t-case crossmember with dual cases. Centerforce dual friction clutch, spool rear and detroit locker in the front with 5.29 gears. Summit fuel cell, new radiator and just about every piece of the body is new factory toyota. If anything needs to be replaced it is replaced with a new factory part. It is a little dusty because it sits in the corner of the body shop.

the fuel cell seems to be working good so far. haven't gotten it out onto the trails yet. and yes i work at the toyota dealership. got it driving tongiht only thing that went wrong was the left wheel spacer wasn't tight enough so gonna need a new set. hopefully will have it out on the trails in 2 weeks and then i will really now how the fuel cell works but thats about it for now.

We spent some time with the truck today and made some good progress. He got the exhaust done and from there we took some flex shots and took it out on the road to see how it handled. The fastest he went was about 70 m.p.h with the 37s and 5.29s but had plenty of pedal left in fifth gear. It handled very well on the highway. The springs will break in, they are still fairly stiff. When he gets some weight in the bed it should really help out also. Overall I think he is really happy with how the truck is turning out.

The All Pro springs seem to wrap up pretty bad under throttle. The rear shocks are not mounted yet. We are hoping that the shocks will take care of the spring wrap.

The heintz toyota official pull rig with a friend's 84 truck on it. It takes a Toyota to pull a Toyota.

The truck is at a friend's place getting a hoop for the rear shocks and a little engine tuning then once the front driveshaft, front third (5.29 w/ detroit), and 30 spline longfields are installed it should be ready for destruction on the trail. We will see how it works on the 21st when we take it out for it's maiden voyage on the trail at Miobi (0 www.miobi.org ) in Iowa before we go to the big Memorial day event at Dresser Wisconsin.  :burnout:

Max got the fenders from AOR. He was one of the lucky many to have a terrible experience with that company. It took many months for them to show up and only did after the credit card transaction was reversed. Very bad customer service, do not buy from AOR! The fenders are made by www.hannemannfiberglass.com and you can order direct from them for the cheapest price. They make a few different styles and have some really cool designs. The "Ivan" stuff is the coolest and is modeled after Ivan Stewart's Toyota race truck and looks Bad@$$. The only downside to that is you must buy a matching hood and it is more expensive.

Thats the obstacle I about flipped on.  I am guessing with his low gears and larger tires he will be able to go up it.
