My 4runner is being  :stopit: .  It is a 22re and there is two wire's that come from the igniton box and plug into the distriutor via a green harness.  It started runnig crapy when I was wheelin and I poped the  hood to find those two wires were crossed over the plug wires and were creating and arc, I shut the 4runner off and moved the wires then in ran just fine.  Now my shiat is running even worse only two cylinders are firing and i can here an electrical arc coming from the ignition box...tick tick...tick tick tick...tick  what the hey man any ideas.  a new ignition box is $230 and a new distributor is $144 with $50 core.  Are there any after market distributor or ignition kits like and MSD, Mallory, or accel?  :dunno:

have you tested your distributor?  even then, if its electrical you can just replace the pickup(comes with the wires and plug).  you can also test your ignition box.  better to do that than waste your time reinstalling an ignitor and distributor when they might not even be the problem!

If your spark plug wires are arcing that's a good indication that they are shot.  Maybe try putting new plug wires and cap in before you go and blow all that cash on new distributors and ignition boxes...
